Magic Of Air - III. Review on Khaitan Fresh Air

When we think of the fans ceiling fans come first on the list because of the top priority it has to cool us of in hot summers and ordinary heat. The function of the fan is to take the available air in a room and circulate it uniformly at a greater speed producing the effect of an artificial breeze. A far as the ceiling fans or table fans are concerned they play with the near by air and keep it circulating in the localized area so there is no incoming of fresh air or outgoing of the used up or polluted air. Even if it is there the rate is low. In hot, humid conditions when the outside air is hot the fans are unable to decrease the room temperature. In such cases Coolers with ice-cold water are a relief. At the basic or fundamental level Air-Coolers is nothing but motorized machine or a disguised table fan. If you remove the outer cabinet it’s all the same. The question I want to raise is what do we do with the smoke of the messed up cooking or a bad smell from outside that’s taken over your available dwelling space? Fans can’t give you a fresh breath quick enough. Meaning the direction of fans rotation is independent of the available space, meaning you can’t control the direction of the input-output air. The solution to the problem is the Exhausts fans, which can direct the smoke or gaseous stuff in the desired direction. Mostly it is outgoing.

Khaitan has range of exhaust fans for the suitable needs from as large as the table fans for commercial use to the half small fans for household usage. These fans differ in the RPM speed, radial size, number of blades, flow rate, direction of rotation (uni-bi directional) etc. As I mentioned in my earlier reviews on ceiling fans that the basic requirement is to direct the flow and maximize the area of cooling. That’s why the blades of ceiling fans are long and less in number. Also the bending of the blades is such as to maintain the good flow at minimum speed. Over bending would cause a overloading on the motor (since the weight of the blades is more as compared). Now in exhausts fans the conditions are a bit different. Here we want a focused greater airflow so we increase the bending angle and number of blades but we reduce the length of the blades considerably. Also for a quick clean up perimeter area of the fan is framed. I guess that’s enough for the working.

This model has all the characteristics of a good exhausts fan. It is a Bi-directional fan, meaning it can rotate in both directions. So you can put out bad air out and let fresh air come in. Number of blades is six. The width of the blade is almost equal to the length of the blade. To accommodate these blades the blades are bent considerably. This also acts as a good air mover as I mentioned earlier. Central motor is very powerful and you can’t stand the incoming flow.

To maximize the usage of the fan the fixing at right place is important. In almost all cases it is fixed on the Kitchen Window. Since it will be for permanent you can also have a hole made in the wall. Factories and industries have fans fixed in the walls. Anyway we have it fixed on the window. The backside of the fan is framed with a wire mesh for the safety. A separate switch to direct the direction of flowing is provided near the fan itself. Apart from that the regular on/off button can be fixed on your electric board.

It’s been only one year from the date of purchase so I can’t really tell you about the durability. The working and every other aspect you can think of the fan is fine and to the expectations. Obliviously there is no question of regulators for exhausts fans as we always want it at high speeds to clean up the air as quickly as possible. I don’t see any cons in this one or may be I’m not aware of them because I haven’t seen any other better fan.
