Finally after a long wait we get to see an ultra modern flick in Kollywood. What is the flick, Who stars in it? Who directs it? Want to know, then read on... Kalaipuli S Thanu presents Goutham Menon's gritty cop story Kaakha Kaakha, starring Suriya, Jyothika and Jeevan.

This episode in a cop's life, as they say in the movie, is all about Anbuselvan IPS. His life is all about encounters and he succeeds 90% in eliminating all those baddies with the help of his close friends, who all are cops like him but before they finish a big baddie, he escapes and our super powerful team is transferred on human rights grounds to various divisions.

Anbuselvan gets to meet Maya during a routine check, and the so called sturdy cop falls for this Maths teacher. Slowly romance blossoms after the usual scenes but all hell breaks loose when the encounter team is gathered again for the final hunt. The big baddie gets shot in a railway station and our team breathes a sigh of relief but this final encounter starts a terrible and scary bloodshed. Who is the brain behind this revenge?.. read on...

Pandya happens to be the big baddie's brother from Mumbai, who vows to kill Anbu and his team and their families. In the second half he does what he promised, he kills Anbu's team one by one and finally he kills Maya. Shocking..... yes, Maya gets killed but our hero Anbu avenges the death of his love and his close buddies in the climax. Well this is the story but this short story has been presented in a fashionable and fast manner by Goutham.

Surya is Anbuselvan, Jyothika is Maya and Jeevan is Pandya and this trio has given a tremendous performance. The supporting cast especially Devadharshini must have met with a better end rather than ending up dead. Music is terrific in the songs as well as the bgm. Harris Jayaraj has scored full marks once again. Cinematography by R.D. Rajasekhar is hi-fi. Editing is slick so is the DTS mix. Songs are picturised in a new manner. We mean the editing and the photography is sleek but the scenes gets to cut very shortly. The romance between Anbuselvan and Maya is very matured when compared to the college romance scenes that take place in Tamil Movies. The Director deserves an applause for having diffentiated the Minnale Romance from the Kaakha Kaakha Romance.

Well you could imagine now what made us to write the first line. Well the answer is nothing else than treatment. Some may argue that the screenplay was slick and cool but we have to admit that it had plenty of loop holes in it. Don't worry about that and hey don't forget to check out Ramya Krishnan in the vamp song. Uyirin Uyirey is one of the best choreographed songs of 2003!

APPLAUSE : Surya .. Harris and Jeevan

AHEM! : Guns. Lots of guns..!

VERDICT : Fast paced episode, makes us wait for the next episode.

UTHHEAVEN SCENE OF THE MOVIE : Surya shooting a baddie from a roof top.
