When I first saw this machine in January 2002, I was really impressed with it and we ended up buying it the day after we moved to Bangalore.


After the first wash, we discovered that the machine had actually torn a few of our clothes in the first load. It turned out into a big episode with the incompetent service personnel that Kenstar has in Bangalore. Although we managed to get the machine replaced, we never could recover the cost of the damaged clothes. I wrote it off as a bad experience.


For the past three years then, this machine has been working like a charm. About 6 weeks ago, we started noticing little oil stains on some of our clothes after each wash cycle. Initially, we were reluctant to blame the machine and figured it must be some rusting pin that might have been left inside inadvertantly. As we found out, no rusting things were left inside the drum.


The problem kept getting worse and we started seeing bigger splotches on our light clothes. This was when we called Kenstar's customer service. I was already wary of the gentlemen who staff this cell at Kenstar, having had a nightmarish time with them three years ago. Now a month has gone by after my initial complaint.


A service technician duly came to our house a couple of times, scrubbed the machine clean inside out, gave us a solution that was supposed to have cleaned the system on an empty wash cycle. Despite all that, the stains remained and our man was at a loss. He hasn't seen anything like it and he escalated it to his supervisors. I have been waiting for a call from the Customer Service for a while now. I only keep learning that a factory engineer must visit and see the problem.


The problem is that they have no clue when this will happen. Don't they realise that a washing machine is something that is absolutely essential for clean clothes? I have waited patiently for 6 weeks for them come fix this problem and have managed to ruin a lot of our clothes in the process.


I am absolutely fed up with this company and their absolutely pathetic incompetent customer service staff in Bangalore. I have names but I am not sure if I am allowed to name them here. Let me just say to all those who care - You are buying a very nice machine but the support that comes with it, if something goes wrong with it, is ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC. For all its technical and ergonomic superiority, I wish Kenstar would also instill a sense of accountability into their customer facing staff.


I am totally frustrated and nobody from my relations, at least, is going to buy anything from Kenstar. I will neverrecommend anyKenstar product to anybody. I have had it.


I am at a loss with what to do next. Probably buy an IFB.
