Kendriya Vidyalay 1 in Bhubaneswar run by Government of India is one of the oldest and to my view the best school in the city as of today. It is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) board.
Location: KV-1 Bhubaneswar is located in the heart of Bhubaneswar at 200 meters from Ram Mandir square just beside the central road'Janpath' that connects Rajmahal square and Vani Vihar square. It is spread over 4.5 acres of land with two principal entrances, one facing Janpath road and the other facing temple'Ram Mandir'. It has four beautiful buildings wherein all academic and administrative activities are performed.
Academics: The academic session runs from March to February.Today the total strength of students of this school has gone beyond 4000 for which classes are conducted in two shifts with approximately 2000 in each shift. It runs classes STD I to STD XII. The education pattern follows NCERT syllabus. There are optimal numbers of teaching staff members with a ratio of 1:16 teachers per student which is a very good ratio indeed.
Facilities: There are laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer classes. The ratio of computers is 1:16 per student. There are huge class rooms with air conditioners available.
Achievements: Students of this school are quite studious and intelligent and qualify in good numbers in entrance examinations for IITs and NITs. Many teachers have also been awarded for their teaching quality on several occasions. Students are also very competent in co curricular as well as extra curricular activities.
Parents of Bhubaneswar always have a dream to join their wards in this school and why not?
