Kellog's for a Noble Cause. Review on Kellogg's Corn Flakes

Kellog's Corn Flakes is a breakfast cereal manufactured in many countries. Kellog is an international brand name, but it had its origin in the USA. In India, it is manufactured at its factory in Faridabad. India makes cornflakes by another manufacturer, but its sale is not as extensive as that of Kellog's. Corn Flakes are made of corn. Kellog's Corn Flakes come in two sizes - the Family Jumbo size, and in the small size, just enough for one person. The Jumbo packets have masks of animals as cutouts, and kids love to have them. You have to take it with milk and sugar. Hot milk or cold milk ? All over Europe and America, it is taken with cold milk, so that its crispness remains. But, I do not know why people in India take it with hot milk to see and taste its cotton wool like texture.

Once in a Seminar, I and my friend Jhambule, from Nagpur, had breakfast in a restaurant. Jhambule was very happy to see corn flakes on the table. He did not waste any time in putting some flakes in his mouth and said that the Chura was nice. He added saying that the Maharashtrian Chura is world famous. ''I will send a packet for Bhabi.'' And he did. On the day of my departure, I wanted to see Mrs. Jhambule and told him, ''Jhambule Saheb, I would like to meet Bhabi and pay her my respects.'' But, he laughed and said that she was out of Nagpur. She was in Pune. Finally, it was discovered that Jhambule had missed the bus. He was a confirmed bachelor. In between a sentence he would say 'applamujhapan'. I asked Barrister Mane the meaning of 'applamujhapan' and came to know that it has no meaning; it is just something added to the actual words in his speech. Whatever it is, Jhambule's company is always enjoyable. So, that day at the breakfast table I politely explained to him the way of taking corn flakes. After the breakfast he said that the Maharashtrian Chura is always better. Jhambule was then the Director of Adult Education of Maharashtra State. A man of learning and many years of experience.

In USA Kellog's Corn Flakes comes in two types. One type has the flakes coated with sugar, and the other type is plain. In some packets, nuts and dried grapes are added. I like the one in which the flakes are coated with sugar.

Kellog's, the household name in USA is also a Foundation. It awards scholarships and fellowships to foreign student and scholars. A portion of the huge profits by selling Corn Flakes, is used for a noble cause.
