Myself and my cousin decided to move to Karnala as we heard about Trekking a lot from other and thought lets we too try for the first time and Most accesible location from Scantacruz was Karnala Fort. As lazy goers we reached the Karnala Bird Sanctuary at 10:00 Am.
The Gatekeepers do Take a Car Parkng cost of 50 rupess but the cars are not allowed in teh Sanctuary nor is there any person to watch your car nor check the Parking coupon But will find an old man with a stick demanding money as if Karnala Sanctuary belongs to him and as usual we did a charity of 10 rupess to him too.
Entering the sanctuary u will have to search for a Map as that Guides you with a short cut(Steep) Trail and Good Trail which takes you to the Karnala fort beleive me have Tried both of them and they both look the same in Terms of the trail Just the Short Cut is too too Steep.
As we had one of school going cousin we decided to take the Good Trail beleiving it to be good. There is no mark on the trail as how much have been completed by your walk or how much have been left. You just need to follow a the foot ways and Keep your Ears on any human sound bein heard and yes if you find any one getting down do ask him how far or how much more up we need to climb and the answer starts from 25 -35 nad 45 minutes depends on the person whom you ask.And Yes do take lots of water with you as at the end of the Journey you will need it the most and there is nothing available once you reach near the fort.
From the base it took us exactly 2 hrs to reach a pleautau from where the Karnala fort was very near. Up above there is a good scenic beauty and all your Joint pains vanish with the cool Breeze flowing.
Take a Good rest over here before you decide to move towards the Karnala fort or Back to the Base.Go in agroup of atleast 5-6 people take frequent stops have some fruits share some joke make the Trek lively curse some one for getting you over there and move ahead it will make the Journey more lively. And yes do visit the Fort before you are too old to climb.
