I wanted to share my experiences with Karma Cafe in Chennai. As far as desserts & cafe goes - Cake Walk is one of my most favorite places. As I drove home one night relatively late, my wife asked me to get some bread. I passed Karma Cafe and on an impulse decided to stop and check out. I walked in, there was this young lady at the counter and I politely asked her "Hi, do you sell bread". "THIS IS A CAFE!" she replied indignantly & I thought rudely.
I was so pissed off by her attitude and thought of asking her why was a cafe selling bags and t-shirts but. I resisted the impulse, smiled politely and walked out. I am no expert in this field and if Cake Walk can sell bread, I assumed they would too. The least that lady could have done is be polite in her reply. Whatever happened to customer service?
Fast forward to a couple of months later, 3 of us decided to visit this place again - this time to have dessert, Thankfully that rude lady was not there and we sat down and ordered. Some of the stuff what we asked was not there and my wife ordered a Blueberry cheese cake. She was not too happy when they served it - for one thing it was a fairly small portion. For another - far from the creamy texture that we had gotten used to - this cheesecake was a bit hard & chewy. The biggest shocker came when the bill arrived. The cheesecake cost a mammoth 110 bucks! Talk about zero value for money.
