Story:

Today only I finished reading the book - Karl, Aaj Aur Kal by Cyrus Broacha.

I couldn't wait to write a review on it. Well, to say that book is a big bore is I think very mild. To the uninitiated, Cyrus Broacha is/was a VJ cum anchor at MTV & has his own brand of humor. This was his maiden attempt to write a novel & he really failed miserably. Well he must have got a good sum from him publisher but us poor souls what wrong we had done to bear this idiotic writings & that too after spending hard earned 195 Rs. Well let me now come to the customary part of any review i.e. Pros & Cons.

Plot: Well this is not a spoiler believe me as there is nothing to be spoiled. Its already in rotten state. Its a story of 2 guys Karl & Kunal. The writer (?) tracks their journey from their school days to college to US Acting school to Bollywood to becoming Politician finally. Well I hear someone said too much of journey, then guys I had gone thru all those 200+ pages of reading this & praying when it will finish.

Pros: I am writing only 1 as it will look bad that I haven't mentioned anything under Pros section :-)

  1. Some funny moments which brings a faint smile on your lip but thatz the end of it. Don't expect anything more.

Cons: I am mentioning only a few as MS team won't allow me to write more than 7500 words.

  1. The Cyrus brand of Humor looks only OK on TV. Its impossible to read all this in form of a Novel.

  2. The plot, characters, etc is just dont get either being funny or humorous. He tries to be funny by making fun of himself/characters but somehow that doesn't work.

  3. He just moves from one sub-plot to another when he feels that story is not going anywhere. But somehow that is also a dampener.

  4. After reading around 70 pages, you will start feeling bore & will wait for story to finish soon or gets funnier. But neither happens & you have to finish the whole of 200+ pages to keep the book down for once & all. Everything looks very flimsy & you dont connect with the characters. All those Bollywood & politics was a major let down.

I feel that Cyrus was trying to live his image of a funny man & for that he tries really hard to make the plot funny. But everything falls flat. The novel end up being neither funny nor interesting. At the end, you feel that your time has been wasted.

Advice to Cyrus: Once bitten Twice Shy, Dont Dare to Give another Try....

To Sum Up: I WANT MY MONEY BACK......
