Kareena Kapoor undboutedley is one of Bollywood's most infamous celebrities-her name constantly springing up in both tabloids and gossip magazines alike. Be it for the countless bitch fights she's supposedly gotten into with fellow actresses or to the more recent kissing controversy with Shahid Kapoor- Kareena sumhow or the other always manages to stay in the news.

In her short career she's been called a great deal of things, from being brash, loud mouthed, spoilt, unworthy of being an actress, basking in her sister's glory...and so on.

Yet the purpose of this review isn't to judge her for the person she is,(I mean, it wouldn't be fair to judge her solely on the articles we see in the media), rather to decide whether indeed she is a capable actress(as she herself has claimed, time and time again) or not.

So is Kareena a capable actress, or simply a decked up glam-doll, as many of her critics would like to dismiss her as?

Well undoubtedly, this is a difficult question to answer. Her performances in her various films have proven to be a mixed bag. Whilst she proved herself versatile and truly talented in films such as Asoka, Refugee, Chameli and Dev, Kareena has dissapointed as well, in a great deal of her films.

Take Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon(her worst performance, in my opinion) as an example. Her acting skills completely disintergrated as she retorted to screeching and making faces, as noted by many critics, in a somewhat new style of acting. But make no mistake, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon is just one of the many examples of movies where Kareena has failed miserably.

Yaadien, Mujshe Dosti Karoge and of course the extremely forgettable Khushi have all proven to be dissapointments for both Kareena's fans and at the box office.

Yet despite such inconsistencies, we have to accredit her with the broad range of roles, she has tackled so early on in a career. From the powerful warrior princess in Asoka, to the ruthless villain in Fida, Kareena has done it all. As she herself stated, not many actresses her age would have the guts, or even be capable of pulling of the role of a prostitute, as she did convincingly in Chameli.

So basically, amongst the various dissapointmenets in her career, she has shown hints of talent here and there. This reviewer firmly believes, if Kareena is more selective of her roles and has someone capable behind the lens, she will be able to gradually rise to the top in the hierachy of Bollywood.

Kareena Kappor indeed has a great deal of things going for her. She has star quality, something not many possess. After all, if she didn't, the public wouldn't be willing to read the endless string of atricles about her popping up, again and again in the media.

Top this off with good looks and her talent, which hasn't been fully exploited-Kareena can only grow from this stage as an actress. We are yet to see the full potential of her, and lets hope by the time we do, She would have matured enough to avoid the controversy that is constantly plaguing her.
