Kangaroo Kids is a name associated and pooh-poohed as 'one of those elitist thingys', but for once, I wish I was a kid today so that I could get that kind of education that most of us have missed out now. All in a span of 11 years, this tiny preschool (as it first began) has altered the meaning of holistic education, setting up examples for the education system as it exists in India. Gone are the days when you were supposed to know your times table by-heart, whatever strategies you adopted to drill it in your brain. Enter instead, the era of creative and divergent thinkers, problem solvers, knowledgeable human beings! The curriculum that this organization has created is simply mind-blowing! besides, its expanding and spreading its wings in different areas in India (they have what 30 odd centres in India to date) Apart from just preschools, the newest feathers in its cap are the high schools-Billabong High (in Mahim and Goregaon) and the TEACHER TRAINING CENTRES that train effecient and able early childhood educators. Its a one year diploma that they offer and its an ideal career option for women and men (i think it is absolutely adorable to have male ECE educators!) who wanna have that perfect balance between home and career.
