You would think Vishal Bharadwaj, after Omkara, would give an equivalent or a better movie experience, seems to have totally misfired on this one.

The movie is set in a very dark background, almost every scene, would have been fine if it was a short 3-5 minute ad film but spare the thought for the movie goers, one would get headache seeing such scenes for 2 1/2 hours. The interval is the only saving grace.

Time after time, Bollywood exploits old wine in a bottle theme of twins, the baddies getting confused, and they exploit that and somehow survive in the end against impossible odds.

In this movie, Charlie and Guddu(both played by Shahid Kapur), totally contrasting characters, one wants a short cut to fame performing the horse race fixing on behalf of bengali syndicate and the other with noble intent working in an NGO are portrayed. Sweety(Priyanka) is the love interest for Goodu but she hides the fact of being a mafia man's daughter. In one of the short cuts, Charlie happens to find a huge stash of cocaine, and how his life gets interwined with his brother forms the rest of the story.

Acting:

Shahid Kapur could not stammer or lisp, the depth of emotions fairly lacking, and Priyanka just did what was expected of her(pardon her Marathi pronounciation). Bhope(played by Amol Gupte) actually had the best performance in this movie even though it was little nationalistic.

Music:

Background music was disappointing, except the 2 songs Kaminey and "Pehli baar Mohabbat(weirdly shows up when the credits roll, poor placement indeed) stands out.

Crapshoot sequences:

A very disgusting sequence of talking points between Guddu and Sweety before she gets pregnant. What kind of message was the director trying to portray to the youth?

Sweety's father, often plays up the outsiders tag(hate towards migrants to mumbai from other parts of the country) a kind of derogatory and anti-nation building chain of events.

The final minutes of the film is a veritable gunfire and killing escapade, seems like a lift from "enemy of the state" but poorly picturized.
