The Superb Mikhail. Review on Kaminey

The way Kaminey unfolds will be a tad bit difficult for many to understand and appreciate. Especially since we as an audience have had to get used to pink and blue sets, all-benevolent love, and cuddly teddy bears. It's a completely different genre of story-telling. The characters are superbly etched and the story is real.

A lot of people have reviewed Kaminey in a lot of ways. I agree with all the good reviews and instaed of restating the obvious in this review, I wish to draw attention to the superb performnance delivered by Chandan Roysanyal as the youngest of the three bengali brothers -Mikhail. Mikhail is not your run of the mill gun totting, cociane snorting Mumbai goon that you get to watch in many Bollywood products these days.

He is incredibly real. So real that when he snorts, you don't feel as if he's snorting talcum powder. So real that after he snorts, he does not immediately turn to discuss a new consignment of AK-47s with his cronies. Yes sir, he doesnt'.! What he does instead is go on a rapture and chase his friend Charlie on a mad driving spree. SUPERB! And the sequence where he meets Bhope is just amazing....to think that this guy is a new comer!

Shahid Kapoor is good, but Chandan Roysanyal is better. If ever Bollywood decides to picturise Shantaram, my vote will be with Chandan for the lead charater. Say welcome to Bollywood's very own Johny Depp!
