Review- kameenay…I’m trying my hand at reviewing after a long while, reason, after watching kameenay I could’nt resist the temptation.
The clicking of a movie depends on just one thing- how it keeps its audience engrossed, and if a movie does so, it goes on to get rave reviews from the watchers or the aam janta and becomes a huge hit… now, if around 20 friends watch a movie then they’r bound to try to pull the movie down by passing comments, and same happened with this movie in the initial 20minutes.
They chattered, hooted and even laughed at in the beginning. But wat was heartening, was that in the second half none of them spoke and in they end those 20 ppl were clapping, just to a knowledge what a great movie they had watched.
Now I think I should move on with the movie and its intricacies.To begin with, I think everyone knows about it being a 2brothers’ story with one being good and the other bad, …and all that lisping and stuttering thing. So I wont delve into that, instead I’l tell focus on the strong points of the movie.
First and foremost the hero of the movie is not shahid, butit’s the director vishal bhardwaj. Again a masterpiece after omkara. Here againthe characters wer very well defined with no overlapping at all. The directionis top notch. Those subtle things(not at all obvious) where he shows thekameenapan in all of us is what you should look for, and mind you if you don’t, then your sure to miss them cos the movie is very fast paced.
The master has composed the music as well and how well hehas!! Dhan ten an is a rage, but watch out for the song Kameenay, and also the background score in the climax. Just one word to describe-mindblowing. Priaynka is brilliant in the movie, cute yet so raw. Thisyou would realize when you watch the movie. But the real show stealer is shahidkapoor. Watch the movie for him, andgirls I’m sure yu’l drool over his bare chested looks. But this is not a candyfloss romantic movie which we all associate with shahid.
The two roles that hedons, are so brilliantly written, that it makes him enact so effortlessly.Guddu, the oh-so-sweet guy can be played by shahid in half sleep, but whatsurprises everyone is the way in which he has played the mean guy in Charlie.Hats off to you shaahid.
What amazes me about this movie and a few others is that howdifferent and so much better these film makers like vishal bhardwaj, rakeshmehra, sanjay leela bhansali etc are from their contemporaries. You realizethat film watching is not just an entertainment thing but is an experience …. Watching the subtleties…trying to understand the significance of every thing that is used in the film be it the background (as in saawariya)… the props… the lil one liners…. And the like, all that inspires awe. And that’s what thismovie is…. Awe- inspiring.
