In Guwahati we visited kamakhya temple located on Nilachal hillock .we went on a Tuesday by car and reached the gate from where we had to climb through numerous stairs to reach the temple .
In the mean time we found our paanda or pujari( priest of kamakhya temple). We reached and we were asked to rinse feet with water in a pond next to the temple .We stood on queue .The priest who was following us was also approaching along with the line .
It was crowded as it was Tuesday .We progressed through the serpentine queue .we reached the sanctum sanctorum and lit candle .we at last saw the small deity of maa kamakhya a totem of lustre as it is believed Satee maa's XXXX fell here and that's why kamakhya is called Yonitirth of all Sateepiths. We offered flowers from daala and vaidik chant was going on inside .One more thing we got enough time to pay homage to the goddess unlike other temples where volunteers don't allow devotees to stand for long .we offered puja and visited some small temples on the premises .we then hired a cab to visit bhuvaneswsri temple after ascending higher and saw a picturesque view of the Brahmaputra and the city in birds view .One can reach by hired car( reserved or shared ) from kamskhya gate that is in the city .
