Hi reader, another article from me about a classes very close to my heart for positive and negative both. I had joined KSC in 1998. My HSC was in 1999. I studied from Sathaye College, Vile Parle (East). Well, I really dont have a clue how KSC is doing at the moment. But I believe that they must have improved a lot. At my time, there were only 2 classes good i.e. KSC and Agarwal. There were few counterparts like Bholas, but I dont really consider them. I missed Agarwal by one mark and that really devasted me. I believed (and still do) that competition is what makes one better than the other. So, I was really worried whether I could find another institute like Agarwal at that moment. Thats when one of my relatives who used to teach at Ideal Commerce Classes in the suburbs told me abt KSC (that was the first time I heard abt it). He told me that most of the professors at KSC are ex-agarwal classes professors. So, I decided to go for it. Also, I had a pretty good review from fellow Sathayeites who had joined KSC for 11th.
The ad came in newspapers and I decided to go for an admission. My mom asked me to go in morning at 7:00 and I thought who would come so early. But, believe me, I was in for a really shocker when I saw that the girl standing in the first of the line had come at 4:30 a.m. there. Wow, so much dedication to join a class... When I enquired someone there, they told me that the craze is to get the best batch. And I got a number somewhere in 600's and had to wait for around 4 hrs for my turn there. Then finally I got the A1 batch that was the summer morning batch at Vileparle. I had joined around September 1997. The initial classes started around December 1997 which was just for few months to be precise 2 initially and then KSC would go on full swing from May 1999.
For starters, the class went smoothly and they had tests conducted on Sundays at Sathaye College. What impressed me more was the way they used to send reviews abt every student to the residence. Parents could review sitting at home how their ward are performing in every subject. And, also they used to give a rank for every student relative to their batch and the entire KSC batch for that year. Believe me, that will put confidence in you like anything to perform. I am a studious student from early childchood who always likes to be in the toppers of the class. So, initially, my results used to be poor. However, as time came and thanks to the competition in my batch, I started to improve on my grades. At that time, KSC used to have a batch only for toppers to coach them in the finest aspects of the subjects. For this, they used to take the top 50 students at KSC from their conducted exams. I wonder if they are still having it. That was the best part at KSC.
I learnt a lot of stuff at KSC. Especially, my college i.e. Sathaye used to be really less bothered abt their students. I still wonder how its students managed to get such high marks. some even top in the merit list. believe me, it has only to do with the fact that they get the best students every year from SSC. I think science closes around 90% there. Other than that, Sathaye has very little to do with its great results. And, the faculty over there was really superb. Some of the best in the business of education used to coach us and if u put ur mind to it, u are really going to gain from it.
The notes at KSC are well documented. I believe that if u write in boards, then u are surely going to soar with high marks there. Even their coaching dedicated for the recently started entrance exams are upto the mark. At my time, the entrance exams for medical had just started in Maharashtra. Believe me or not, KSC was giving free education to students of KSC who had opted for Biology in terms of entrance exams. Many of my friends had joined it to learn something rather than loitering around during vacations. I was so surprised when I learnt that the most unpredictable students who had given IITs had got superb results in the entrance exams, and they had even joined the best medical colleges in Mumbai like KEM, G.S., etc. when they were trying for engineering seat. And when I asked them how u did it, they said that all credit must go for KSC.
So, this was my life at KSC and I bet my most crucial part. I got 95% in PCM, got a engineering seat at a Regional Engineering College. I still believe that KSC would have improved now. And for all those who dont get a seat at Agarwals and cannot really afford the private coaching available in Mumbai (I think thats a waste of time and money) , then go for Kalra Shukla Classes.
