Kalloori -

When I heard the title, the directory and the producer I could guess the story would have a touch of lust less love in that. True, the expectations were not deceived.:)

Plot starts with school friends joining college together and happen to meet one more new friend - Shobana. There is a tough control imposed on everybody posed by one of the friends( S. Kayalvizhi) that " Friends can remain as friends for ever and that is the way they should be " with a punch that " Exceptions cannot become examples ". Everyone takes that to the brain and not to their heart, because they can't.;)

When there is a kind of de-stabilization experienced between Shobana( Tammanna) and Muthu( Akhil) for unknown and unexplained reasons, Tamanna comes to know about the family background and the pain with which Muthu comes to college for a definitive goal and its not an easy joke for him to let his aim go off as such. Because there is a family behind him expecting his achievement and working tirelessly for him to get that and here he got to win and there is no other go. Determined by this statement or advice whatever you might think of,  Muthu did it.

Slowly Shobana's resistance to unreveal her true feelings towards Muthu comes down and is shattered on others as anger sometimes which is absolutely natural and that is where director needs to be applauded first. When everything goes on a smooth ride as expected just for the sake of twist in the story and to leave a supposed lasting impression in the hearts of the viewers the directory had took a weapon - most cruel weapon. Once shobana confesses her feelings and love to Kayalvizhi though her burden sets down the twist shoots up.

Very sorry to say to the review readers the story had a real pathetic end - a real pathetic end.

Balaji sakthivel's film is proved for his nativity in the plot in his first film itself, good that he didn't make it false this time also:). Comedy was simple and awesome. I had never heard applauses in the theater so much and thunderous laughs for the comedies in any of the movies, but this movie did it; especially when the two joint friends starts with "sollrathu, en neenga sollrathu. en neenga dhan sollrathu. " - thought at first this seems to be very simple, this a  real comedy which lightens your heart. Amidst face wrinkling comedies, cheap comedies, half-colored comedies these days - this one will leave a permanent mark definitely.

Except Tammanna( she is almost a new comer) all the other main cast were new faces. Trust me they all are new faces just by name and one would find it difficult to accept the tag " Arimugam " to them; it was such a splendid performance. Everybody did their part well. Congrats!:) " Catch them young " is well attributed to this cast crew. This film would be a definite break for Tammanna for her expressions and natural reactions.

The main reason I was pulled to watch this film was music and confidence I had on Balaji Sakthivel for a good film. I was totally satisfied with the first point, both songs and re-recording was perfect. We can add Joshua to promising list of music directors in our Tamil Film Industry. Songs were really good - especially " unnarugil varugayil ". But I was taken aback a bit by the second point I had mentioned.

Cinematography was elegant and suits well to the mood of the story.

There were quite a few scenes which redefines what has been already imposed to us before in our tamil cinema history.

For ex: the picturization of camp fire.

A dark night, camp fire, just hero and heroine, beautiful soft music, nobody around them. Most of us would have imagined the next sequence of actions as a normal viewer and that too for a normal movie.(if you didn't . sorry . I lost before you) In the song, " unnarugil varugayil " the sequence takes place but here its so well framed( I should not use the words photographed or picturezied, for thats a sin) that Shobana and Muthu would sit side by side with enough space in between them and stare at the camp fire( When you use an object to stare, just to stare - then you could concentrate on somebody next to you)  and not at each other. That was lovely. All those who give respect to " true love " as to salute at this. Am sure you will:)

When its quite hard to watch movies with family and children these days, with respect to the scenes, this film should be certified not just as U, it should be=> really'U':) Hats off to the director, true feelings last longer.

Though I had praised the directory many times in my review am reserving this section of the review to - not write bad about him but to feel bad, really bad about his notions in the film.

Its so pathetic to have such a tragic ending - well thats an ending to the film but not to the heavy hearts one carries out of the theater. Mr. Director I would recommend to give value and respect to those at least coming to theaters, paying for the ticket and watching your movie. Is director's formula to have a tragedy at the end, so that his movie would be termed as a' SUPER HIT'?( I could see the formula depicted the same way in -' Kadhal' also)

Its pretty much acceptable if the pathetic ending suits the story, I would say no way it did. Was it to prove the silly reason - that friends remained as friends and died( you have to answer for this word -?) as friends.

Its really disturbing and painful to the heart and the mind - who watch cinema as a some message conveyor and for those who expect some goodness from good directors.

The height of pathetism has been depicted in this film - Before Akhil could read the CONFIRMED love from the eyes of Tamanna and an expected bow down of her head in shy running across her cheeks making it blush in red acknowledging silently for his silent question - Is it true?. Before he could see all these from his lover; her eyes, her body, her everything starts a departure to the world of infinity where she would never ever return - its cruel and a lasting fear just to think in the position of Akhil.

What does the esteemed director convey from this? That he is successful enough not uniting the lovers AGAIN( yes its an again!:(). He has the duty to explain these unexplained shivers and pain to the viewers in the name of film's nativity and realism.

Atleast in his future movies he should continue to give good subjects with an acceptable happy ending.

This film is not recommended for somebody who takes cinema from good directors very seriously and finds it hard to digest the pain.

For those who are confident on them and as the line - cinema is just cinema, I would wave a definite green flag:)
