Hello, fellow MSians! Sorry for the long gap between my last review and this one. My Internet had a nervous breakdown from opening some of the reviews on MouthShut. On with the review!

I

saw this movie aeons ago. After that, I was forced to watch it time and time again, due to some guests who love this movie. The movie begins with an introduction of Naina Catherine Kapur (or was it Kapoor?) and she slowly - and I mean s-l-o-w-l-y - introduces everyone, from her grouchy Dadi, who could give old Savita a run for her money, to Gia/Jia, who spends her time creating a doll family, and keeping the old grandma doll in exile from everyone else.

We are introduced to Rohit, who thinks that he is hot stuff. Naina tells us that he’s not really a bad guy, ’Poor Rohit’. One day, a guy arrives in their neighbourhood, supposedly an angel. And his name is Aman. Naina’s mother takes a liking to him instantly, as well as Gia/Jia. But Naina, Dadi and the boy-with-the-crutches stand in the background and try out their imitations of Aporna’s scowl. But when he gives Naina a make-over (by removing her glasses - hey! Isn’t that what my name was inspired from?) then Naina decides to spend her time fluttering around looking like a teenage cheerleader.

Rohit, the pathetic-sort-of-hot-stuff, falls in love with Naina. Naina falls in love with her angel Aman. Aman, for some strange reason, doesn’t want to marry Naina. And after coming close to her and breathing in her face multiple times - sheesh! Then begins the thing called 6 Din, Ladki In. Pathetic name. The ending is strange, and we finally get to witness Preity as I suspect she really looks like (i.e. a 50-year-old).

Shah Rukh Khan as Aman, gives a fine performance. He’s a good actor. But his performance is too much like so many before. I don’t really know why he makes it a point to act in Yash Chopra and Karan Johar/Joker films. They all seem to cast him in the same sort of role. But, I guess, each to his own!

Preity Zinta acts excellently in this movie. After this movie, I really recognised her, not just oh-it’s-that-dimpled-girl-again-I-can’t-remember-her-name. But squinting through one eye like Karan Virani in the I’m-so-angry-at-this-6-Din-Ladki-In scene? Funny!

Saif Ali Khan is really one of the best in this film, if not the best. Like Preity, I didn’t even know him before this movie. He has good expressions throughout the movie, be it in funny scenes, sad scenes, happy scenes, or just plain weird scenes! cough Kantaben cough

Jaya Bachchan acts well in the scenes given to her. She justifies her role as a calm woman who has a lot of problems and has to be brave for all of her children. Couldn’t think of a better actress - but then, I’m not a big movie buff. I turned down the offer to watch Veer-Zaara for Saara Akaash!

Some of the jokes are laughable, but some are pathetic. I have no idea what Delnaz Paul, Lilette Dubey and Simone Singh were doing in this movie. Some of the Kantaben jokes weren’t even funny. They were just discrimination. And the G-U-J-J-U? Sort of funny, but it seemed a bit - well, racist! Oh no! Here comes Pooja Mehta to defend her home! And the movie is overall good time-pass. Well, that’s my review. Can I expect comments?
