KAL HO NAA HO fails to impress. Review on Kal Ho Naa Ho

Karan Johar is back with his latest offering Kal ho naa ho as a writer giving directional job to debutant Nikhal Advani. As Karan's previous films this movie also cast Shahrukh Khan with Pretty Zinta and SaifAli Khan.

So,

• Is Kal ho naa ho as brilliant as Karan's previous flicks Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Ghum and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai?

• Is Nikhal Advani direction is as good as Karan Johar's direction?

• Will the magic of Shahrukh Khan and Karan Johar recreated in Kal ho naa ho?

• Is Kal ho naa ho 2003 version ofAnand?

So the magic unfolds on the big screen, the doubts, if any, is set to rest.

• No, the movie can't create the same magic which was created in KKKG and KKHH but the movie still worth a watch.

• Yes, Nikhal Advani is a confident director but not as talented as Karan Johar. He had handled the emotion sence with ease.

• No, the magic didn't work the third. Shahrukh Khan doing similar acting in Chalte Chalte, Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Ghum. Devdas, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and now in Kal ho naa ho and not trying anything new like Hrittick doing an abnormal child role in Koi mil Gaya and passing with flying colors. Karan Johar's writing skills are brilliant but he should not leave direction.

• No, Kal ho naa ho is not the 2003 version ofAnand but look like a mixture of many movies.

For Naina Catherine Kapur [Preity Zinta], life is cold, grey and dull - as it has been ever since a family tragedy shook her world.

Between the constant bickering in her half Punjabi, half Catholic household, her grand-mother's temper, looking after her little sister and brother and helping her mother Jennifer [Jaya Bachchan] deal with the family's financial troubles - Naina has no time for parties, fun or herself.

Enter Amana (Shah Rukh Khan). Like a whiff of fresh air. he moves into their tiny Indian neighborhood to take it over helping others solve their problems and face life's little challenges - Aman, has all the answers

Much to Naina's irritation, he insists on interfering in her life too...

Aman pushes Naina into doing things that she would ever dream of doing. He nags her till she Seams to smile. He conspires with friend Rohit [Saif ali khan), an eligible Manhattan bachelor, to help her find happiness.

KAL HO NAA HO is the story of Aman, Rohit and Naina's journey together. How they discover themselves, find the courage to love and come together to celebrate life.

The story is interesting but the direction needs to be better. Nikhal Advani is not as good as Karan. The movie has several unwanted sequences and tracks which could be deleted, the screenplay could be more cohesive. Some moment in the film was handle pretty well like Sushma and Jaya Bachchan track and the climax which was good but look stretched.

Cinematography was outstanding and is prefect for the movie. Choreography was brilliant. Dialogues were mixed bag. some realistic and original and some off-repeated.

The music of Shanker-Ehsaan-Loy was humble. The song which stand out were its time to disco, Mahi ve and the title track. They are also Picturised brilliantly as well. But the song pop up at regular interval where needed or not. Pretty Woman, the disco song and the title was completely unnecessary.

Now towards the performances. Shahrukh Khan is the same again but still he was able steal the show again. SRK needed a different roic. Doing that same type of love roles will not prove benefit for him.

Preity Zinta is hniliant in her role. She is very pretty as well Saif Ali Khan was ok.

Over all the movie is good but lacks a good direction and a better screenplay. Also Karan Johar should try something new, taking Shahrukh Khan again and again look boring
