The last line from Anand was- ?Anand didn?t die. Anands don?t die.?

If one assumes KHNH to be a remake of Anand, then we?ll have to modify the statement. ?Anands don?t die- except when Karan Johar watches Anand and decides to steal the story for his movie.?

Karan Johar has the skill of selling a mediocre product by using excellent packaging. But it doesn?t stop there. His films are not just mediocre; they promote everything unethical, immoral and profligate. Today, Johar and his movies- represent the Indian society in its very essence- superfluous and full of double standards.

?Kal Ho Na Ho?is worse than K3G. Between KHNH and KKHH, it is difficult to tell which one is worse.

The Story-

?Miss Depressed?- Naina Kapoor (Preity Zinta) is living in New York. Her father -a philandering loser- ends his life, leaving the family in lot of financial trouble. Her mother and grandmother are constantly fighting. There is a younger brother, and a younger half-sister (born to her father and some unknown woman).

With an abnormal family like that, anyone would get lost in deep depression. Naina?s only friend is Mr.Dimwit - Rohit Patel (Saif Ali Khan) - a carefree, silly but cute guy.

Then she has a new neighbour- Mr. Dubious - Aman (SRK)- a talkative, overfriendly guy who takes up the task of solving Naina?s various problems- and ends up creating a bigger problem. Ms Depressed falls for Mr. Dubious.

But he has a rare serious heart condition so Mr. Dubious decides to play the matchmaker and gets Ms Depressed married to Mr. Dimwit.

The (Mis)Direction-

Karan Johar- the undisputed king of immorality has created yet another Disgusting yet Good-looking movie. The theme expressed in the song- ?har pal yahan jee bhar jiyo?is good, but the song is of only 5 minutes duration-the rest of the 3 hours are filled with trash.

Loud supporting characters, cheap jokes, derailed storyline, boring scenes- Director (?) Nikhil Advani could not do much to improve Johar?s weak screenplay.

There is no logic. SRK, who is supposed to be suffering from a major illness, doesn?t have any restrictions on movements. He runs, jumps, dances in discos- like a normal person.

Apart from a few Saif-Preity scenes, rest of the movie is a torture. It has tremendous power to generate headaches and nightmares.

The only point in time where I could find myself nodding in agreement was when Preity Zinta declares in front of her guests-, ?We are all insane!!!?Yes, that?s so true-practically every character is abnormal- in need of serious psychiatric help. After some time, one feels as if one is watching a live telecast of day-to-day activities in a mental hospital.

Technical Aspects-

It has got marvelous music. Background music could have been much better. KHNH has a fresh, colourful ?New Yorkish? look and a different, clean energy and vibrancy. Cinematography is fine. Songs like ?Kuch to hua hain? and ?Kal ho na ho? are a delight to watch as the screen lights up with light colours and freshness.

Acting-

Preity looks sweet and has a great wardrobe. Yet, the bubbly lady doesn?t look comfortable doing this role. (Looking at it from her side, it?s not really her fault. Her character was so weak.)

Saif Ali Khan looks cute and shows a great comic timing. His role isn?t very well defined, and he doesn?t look Gujrati from any angle. But the handsome actor gives a great performance in spite of everything.

Shahrukh Khan was in the movie, too. The guy hardly has any important scenes. He just plays the role of matrimonial agency. He is unable to stop Preity-Saif from stealing all the limelight. His death scene in the end looked so fake and artificial.

SRK should stick to playing Gopal in sequels of Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. (Why don?t they make sequels of such great movies?)

I fail to understand why at this age Jaya Bachhan chose to play the role of a weak, spineless doormat. She was as bad as the movie.

The supporting cost was annoying, except Reema, Sonali Bendre and Satish Shah who were tolerable.

I know I shouldn?t have touched this VCD, I somehow thought Saif?s acting and Advani?s direction would make the movie tolerable. But now I have concluded that Karan Johar and decency are just two most opposite words.
