Kal ho na ho. Will there be a tommorow?. This is the question that we must ask ourselves in our everyday journey of life. What we have today is there for the grasping, but tommorow we may be empty handed, the people we love and care about, make them yours today, don?t wait for tommorow, for tommorow is never certain. This is what this movie is all about, kal ho na ho is a great movie, one of my favourites, from the start till the end, it reaches every empty corner of your heart, and at times inspiring.
Kal ho na ho was a big hit as expected from the johar ? srk combo and the addition of the dazzling preity zinta and rising star saif ali khan, together they made a memorable movie that is a simple treat to watch. Let me take u through this emotional rollercoaster and how it tugs the very inner chords of the heart.

Story
Anyhoo lets meet Ms Naina Catherine Patel, hmmm best description which befits her, ahh yes dull and boring. Living in the big apple little miss Catherine has made a small little life with her family in the big city, living with her mother Catherine, her little brother shiv, and young cute sister Gia,?.AND of course the annoying Grandmother and her two irritating sisters. As dull as her life is circumstances have made her life a torment, living with the memories of her endearing and expired father for a large part of her life, as well as that she has the huge responsibility of her familiy?s financial burdens.
But whats worse is the dark secret that has kept her family in dismay, and that secret lies behind the younger sister gia, whom the grandmother despises and feels was the cause of her sons death. Jia infact is not catherine?s actual daughter, but was adopted as the consequence of her husband?s infidelity. But in an attempt to keep peace within the family she hid this secret from Lajjo instead making her believe that she was just an adopted child from another family.
Catherin and her daughter had to endure deep wounds in an attempt to keep this from her, but it was always Naina who suffered more and always tried to keep peace but to no avail, as the family became almost divided. Poor Naina, no time for fun, and absolutely no time for herself. She simply is a 20 year old going on 40. Life always has its burdens, but for Naina nothing is better than a friend that can make you smile.
Meet RohitBhai Patel, the missionary from gujju land, just kidding he?s not, but he is a gujju for sure, ?uugh and not that proud of it actually. Well his life?s not boring as Naina?s, how can it be rich parents, a maestro with gals (not all the time) and he?s FUN. Not exactly a great combination alongside naina but they?re always somewhat attached to each other. Rohit well he has no financial burdens, not exactly serious when it comes to life, always moves away from responsibilities, always has time for fun and of course like many,is easily embarrassed by his parents, who are so ever-proud of being gujurati and dream of carrying on the gujju tradition by getting their son married to another ?guess? seriously guess?a gujju. Wow I would have never guessed that.
Hmmm well I guess I was wrong when I said life?s not all that bad for rohitbhai.. hmmm kya kare madad karoo. But anyway despite his antics he has always been a close friend of naina, he taunts her and there but yet they get through the day together with smiles on their faces?awww, now that?s friendship. But for naina friends have not been the best solution to her problems, sometimes it takes an angel.
Enter Aman Mathur, our new padosi, living with his mother and grandfather like swift ray of light he enters and walks into the incapacitated life of naina mathur. Aman Mathur, the man with the golden heart, who can turn stones into jewel (not really), but he has something special. He is a very happy go lucky guy, always full of life, who can make u smile and laugh before he snaps his fingers.
Unlike many he has a positive attitude to life and believes that we have to take everything we get as tommorow is never a certainty. But what bothers him the most is lifeless Naina Mathur. He enters into her life like an angel, she detests him at first and is very bothered about his antics and the closeness he shares with the family, and rohit as well, poor fellow he needs an angel. But anyway all of a sudden life turns a corner for naina, as aman takes into a new world, yeah the fun world, soon enough she realizes that life isn?t all that serious, u just need to chill, take life as it is but always make it fun while as it lasts as life is always to short.
Anyway as all other movies love has to blossom, soon enough naina becomes more and more attached to aman, and falls into that entagled web that leaves your heart out of our control, yes love. Aman too loves her, but there is something that will always keep them apart. From here on the movie takes a drastic turn, rohit starts to fall in love with naina and reveals all to aman. So then what will happen, will aman proclaim his love for naina, or will he stand back because of his dark secret, and will he help rohit find a place in naina?s heart. Find out for yourself in this emotional rollercoaster of a movie.
PROS
The script is certainly not a challenging script but it?s a very simple, yet compelling script which has its little twists. It?s a movie that makes u laugh and cry at the same time. Overall flaws are hardly their, and the cast fit in well with the movie like a jigsaw puzzle.
Overall it?s a movie that aims to touch your heart and at times it is heartwrenching and brings a tear to the eye, but of course I didn?t cry, cos u know real men don?t cry, aren?t I right boys?
The music is fantastic, ijust love it but of course the main theme song kal ho na ho is fabulous. One of the best songs ever, and sonu sings in an awesome manner. Its inspiring and sometimes touches you deeply especially when the instrumental version is played. The rest of the music is very funky and fits in well with the movie.
The comedy is not bad, lillete, delnauz, lajjo sisters and even saif are brilliant in the comedy scenes. The comedy infact is a must ingredient in a soppy movie as this, otherwise the film would become too mushy and boring. The best parts have to be the scenes with kantaben, its as funny as hell.
The story is inspiring, and gives even the viewers a motivation in life, and most importantly a better insight in human relationships.
It wasn?t as painful as other srk movies.
