Kai Po Che is one of the recent movies I caught on the big screen. Not because it is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's 'The Three Mistakes of my Life', simply because it had the TV screen heartthrob Sushant Singh Rajput.
The trailers did look refreshing and the three characters Ishan, Omi and Govind keep you glued. To be honest, I don't really remember much of the book, and hence watched Kai Po Che with an open mind.
Here's why Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che stands out:
Plot: The three characters Ishaan (Sushant Singh Rajput), Omi (Amit Sadh) and Govind (Raj Kumar Yadav) are the best of friends and brothers for life. Their friendship is set in the backdrop of the 2002 Gujarat riots and the massive earthquake that shook Gujarat.
With the turn of events, and growing hatred among the two communities, it is friendship that stands the test of time.
With dreams, passion, hatred, jealousy and the desire to succeed, the three are embroiled in a story of friendship and love.
The movie is shot brilliantly with excellent editing by Deepa Bhatia and exceptional acting talent by the cast - Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh, Govind and Amrita Puri.
Characters: Govind (Raj Kumar Yadav) is the money manager of the gang and makes sure they cut corners to make it big slowly but steadily.
Omi (Amit Sadh) is the priest's son and Ishaan's best buddy. He loves his friend to the hilt and leaves no stone unturned for him. But, will his friendship become his biggest weakness?
Ishaan (Sushant Singh Rajput) is the dreamy boy of the town who is passionate about cricket. He eats, sleeps and loves cricket and his two friends who mean the world to him. He is protective about his little sister, Vidya (Amrita Puri) and showers her with all the love. Will she break his trust?
Music: Composed by Amit Trivedi is apt and relates to the soul of Kai Po Che and the three friends. My favorite is Manja. :)
