The serial is another Ekta Kapoor production being aired from Monday to Thursday at 11.00 pm. The serial is about 5 sisters( or so it began, until now….). The title song is pleasant and is picturised pretty well.

The Story so far-

The five sisters of the Sinha family, Kashish, Kanan, Mouli, Mahek and Charu(all five happen to be almost of the same age, whew!) are close to each other and are happy-go-lucky until R&G(Raheja and Garewal) enter. Prof. Sinha, the girls’ father, is a widower and he is very close to his daughters, especially to Kashish. With no mother around, Kashish has taken up all the responsibilities of their house. She takes up a job in R&G and ends up having a very nasty boss, Sujal Garewal.(As you might have already guessed, he happens to be the hero. Pretty obvious, isn’t it?) ENTER- Sujal’s family. It is a joint family of two friends, Mr. Raheja and Mr. Garewal, who live together in the same house. Mr.Raheja is the good guy but his wife happens to be the vamp. Mr. Garewal is not at all interested in his family but his wife is the ideal mother and etc, etc.. Piyush Raheja and Sujal Garewal are good friends, just like their fathers. But, Sujal has a younger brother, Rishi who happens to be another villain in the house.( as if one vamp is not sufficient)

Kashish hates her boss. But finally, they both fall in love, in time for Piyush to fall in love with Kashish too. In the meantime, Rishi develops a very strong hatred towards Kashish and with cruel intentions, flirts with Kashish’s sisters, Mouli and Mahek. A lot of misunderstandings are created, thanks to the devilish characters of Rishi and Mrs.Raheja, who join hands and the stupidity of Kashish and Piyush. So, Kashish and Piyush are destined to marry one another. Sujal turns into his grey shades, as he is desperately in love with Kashish. Meanwhile, Rishi gets Mahek pregnant and Mahek gets thrown out of the house. Sujal is cleared of his misunderstandings and apologises to Kashish. But Kashish, being the ideal Indian beti, refuses to marry him in order to save her family name and sacrifices her love for the sake of her father.

Kashish is married to Piyush. Sujal has turned red with fury and grey with vengeance and is doing everything in the world to hurt everyone and of course, himself. In the meantime, Rishi is thoroughly enjoying himself and continues to flirt with Mouli.

Characters

Kashish Sinha(Aamna Sheriff) is good, if not the best. She overdoes her sweetness, once in awhile but is passable. She is kind-of drooling in dialogue-delivery. She does well as an affectionate sister and her scenes with her father are really emotional and well picturised. She is very good in a few romantic scenes with Sujal.

She is the ideal daughter, affectionate and caring sister, wonderful friend to Piyush, fabulous lover to Sujal and a bitter enemy to Rishi. The ‘ideal daughter’ stuff is over done, as can be expected from an Ekta soap. But her character, as a lover, sister and enemy are good. Her character falls flat when she decides to marry Piyush, who apparently happens to be Sujal’s best friend and lives in the same house. She not only sacrificed her life for her father and family, she claimed two other lives, that of Sujal and Piyush. What an ideal beti??

Sujal Garewal(Rajeev Khandelwala) is the perfect hero. And he also happens to be the best actor of the lot. He does fabulously well as the ever-angry boss, as Piyush’s best friend, as Kashish’s love, as a wonderful son to his mother and now, as the angry-young-man, seeking vengeance. His body language is really good. He doesn’t have much dialogues to deliver but he depicts all his emotions, be it anger, love, hatred, hurt or dejectedness, through his eyes and facial expressions. I think, for once, Ekta has managed to get a hero and a heroine who are good at what they are doing. Imagine the tortures of Tulsi, Parvati, Prerna, Anurag, Kusum, etc, etc..

Sujal is literally obsessed with Kashish and cannot live without her for long and he begins torturing the couple by always being around, no matter where they go. Rajeev manages to put up a grim face and gives a splendid performance.

Piyush Raheja(Rohit Bakshi) is not the ideal friend at all. He does not fit the role. He does well but still, there is something lacking in him. There is no depth in his expressions and his countenance is much worse.

Piyush’s character is probably the weakest and the dumbest character of the entire serial. He is being depicted, in the beginning, as the perfect friend for Sujal and Kashish. But he ends up marrying Kashish, despite knowing that they love each other excessively. Piyush’s character was well drawn, but it fails to continue so. He should have brought his best friend and Kashish together, rather than marrying Kashish himself for his selfish needs. This act of his shows the weakness of the character. It proves he was a good friend, neither to Sujal nor to Kashish.

Rishi Garewal is a great character. And the actor( can’t remember his name) is fabulous. He is a big relief from the boredom of Kashish’s sorrows and the awful background music for her. (Kashish’s music is atleast okay but I cannot tolerate the hyped-up-good-guy, Piyush’s music. Its pathetic!)

The remaining cast sways from passable to okay performances, with Kashish's dad and Piyush's mom giving good performances.

The serial was pretty good in the beginning but it is taking the same track as Ekta’s other soaps. I hope the serial shifts its focus, from Kashish’s travails and Piyush’s extra sweet attitude, to the story of her other sisters. Kahin to hoga, being the story of five sisters, has become the story of Kashish, her responsibilities, her sorrows, etc, etc..

P.S. take my advice and do not watch the serial until Piyush is thrown out. His is one character, which is very, what you call, ‘banavati’ and his music, man! can anything be more pathetic? But, if you are watching it, then watch it for the sake of Sujal. His character is beautifully drawn and Rajeev is simply superb. Watch it only for his splendid performance.
