I have been watching Kahin To Hoga now for the last few months. I must confess that it is one of the most matured treatments with fewer mistakes than most other serials in the Hindi TV circuit of late. A strange love story of Sujal and Kashish, it started as a story of four sisters but has now settled down to chronicle the fortunes of just the eldest of them.
No regrets for that. The serial has been drawing viewers to Star Plus close to midnight for most weeknights just to find out ?Did she? Did she not??
What I like most in the serial is its use of the theatre of non-communication as a medium of narration. Kashish?s love-hate relation with Sujal seems to take Balaji Production to a different height ? quite out of character ? by positively projecting a more family theme than the usual clichéd saas bahu archetype.
Sujal Garewal (Rajeev Khandelwal) takes people off their feet with his cameo performance. Only if he could spend less time alone in the rain and could seek less prop support from pillars and railings! They are becoming too stereotype lately! The performance of Kashish Sinha (Aamna Sheriff) has been riveting and quite intriguing. Soft-spoken but certainly garrulous in her soliloquies, she pours fire through her eyes. Sujal matches her fire with his, even when his script is pretty tight.
Another thing that gives the serial its breadth is the commendable performance of a lot of supporting cast. Rishi Garewal (Shabbir Ahluwalia) is brilliant. He hogs a lot of limelight and rightly so. Then there are Vasundara and Akshat (sorry I do not know who the actors are). They too are worth watching. The three fathers could have been better. They shine in their designer wear but are not able to get beyond that. They are sadly quite two-dimensional.
Finally, we get to hear of Kashish more than we get to see her. A wonderful directional ploy to keep the audience interested, I guess. The pace of the serial is varied ? slow on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but faster on Thursdays. A good marketing ploy this time!
Would like to see more in the coming days. Will she, won?t she? If she does (marry him) will it be to seek her revenge or to seek love? Only time will tell?
