When Kahin Kissi Roz started, around April or May 2001 ( I apologize for the lack of precision ), it was my favourite serial. Star Plus dared to bring in a good thriller even though its saas-bahu sagas were hits.
Shaina is the new entrant into the Sikand family, wife of Kunal. She seemed to be an intelligent girl. In fact she herself is Sunaina, the first wife and wanted to bring Kunal and Ramola (her mother in law ) to book for attempting to burn her. The setting was good, and the ghostly touch added to the serial by shaina's plans were good.
But see what has happened now.
1) I said Shaina seemed an intelligent girl. How wrong I was. She in fact is the epitome of FOOLISHNESS.
2) The serial now has degenerated to a never ending soap. albeit different from the others because of a different storyline and the presence of a very strong character in Ramola Sikand.
What can I sy about the character of Shaina Sikand .
Her first mission was to convict Ramola. Ramola has tried many times to kill her. She was even jailed. But because of her scheming mind, she has always won at the end. But what is most amazing, that Shaina forgives her everytime and continues to trust her. I agree with what Ramola said to Vikram 2 weeks back, ''Shaina tumpe vishwaas kyon nahin karegi ? Tumne kiyahi kya hai ? Maine itna kuch kiya lekin woh phirbhi mujhpe bharosa karti hai .''
Ramola plots in such a way that the whole world seems to be against Shaina. From her sister in law to the owner of obscure bars. Ramola wakes up at night. ''Shaina is awake'' , she thinks, and concludes that Kunal is at a specific bar somewhere in Delhi. Man, we need a PM with a brain like hers.
On the performance front, everybody is good, particularly Sudha Chandran as Ramola and Yash Tonk as Kunal.
The story, although it is stretching on, is refreshingly different from other soaps. So you can take a try and watch it before sleeping.
