Does it happen in your house, that one of your family members commits adultery? Is it your house where people die and (yet) come back to life out of nowhere? Does it happen in your house that women marry men for the sole sake of destroying their careers, business, et al?
Then I would like to question Ms Ekta Kapoor on the validity and authenticity of the Title? Will she please justify her Titles? If her argument is that it is a sum total of all the houses in the country and not just one, then she is better off not showing the 'Sum Total' because all it creates is more hatred within the families?
You think I am talking extremes? Wait till I explain.
Most of the joint families in the country were living their happy lives until Ms. Kapoor came on to the Soap-Opera scene. The had their own differences but they neve had to air them. They did bicker amongst themselves but they kissed and made up too, pretty soon. And then, along comes Ekta Kapoor who shows that behind all quarrels and bickering, there lies a despicably evil motive. And so rose the fire of doubt and despair, where, previously, there was trust and forgiveness...
Some soppy things about the Soap Opera...
I don't want to discuss the story as almost all of you know better than me what is going on but I would like to point out a few things.
Why do all the characters in the serial jump to conclusions when there aren't any? If it's human nature, why do they hold conferences while deciding a matter of business? Can't they just 'conclude' what is 'good' and what is 'bad' and then act accordingly?
Why does every episode have to have at least one person set to 'destroy' and 'ruin' the family?
Why doesn't life be smooth atleast for one month in the family? Why do they have only problems and no happiness? All homes do not have problems all the time!!
Why doesn't Kamal divorce Pallavi if he is so fed up with her? A man with political and financial clout such as his, can initiate and win divorce proceedings anytime he wishes. Then it would just be business between him and his wife?
Why does each episode have to end midway and begin again and again end with a reaction of shock, horror or awe?
Finally, why does each character have a characteristic music of his/her own as if it were a tagline concerning his identity?
Have you ever woken up with a huge cake of make-up on your face in the morning? Well, Parvati always does!! and so does the rest of the gang!!
These and other questions, coupled with poor camera-work and poorer scripting compel me to avoid the serial at all times.The storyline is weak with innumerable gaps and chinks? For instance, where are Peter and Khushi? What happened to them? Again, the direction has changed hands more often than ten rupee notes. So has the scripting. No one knows where and how this serial started and where it is leading and where it will end...
People like me are patiently waiting for the day when it will end. If it doesn't, well heaven save us from the pending disasters coz then Kahaanii Ghar Ghar Kii WILL become Kahaanii Ghar Ghar Kii.
Bottomline...
If you are a sensible person, I'd suggest you give it a miss. Go watch CARTOON NETWORK instead. At least, they have some good shows which have a sensible storyline!
