I admit that I am not a regular viewer of Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki. I stay in a hostel and so watch it during my vacation, 2-3 months at a stretch.

The title suggests that the story is about a common Indian family. Well, there is nothing at all ''common'' about this super rich family. So I assumed it was a story about an ''ideal'' family. I guess that is the image they seek to project. But what I am seeing since April, completely breaks this myth.

What kind of a ghar is this ? A family where members have been jailed for rape, for murder, someone has an illegitimate son, a wife murders her husband because he was having an affair with another woman, the list can go on.

First Ajay (one of the sons of the Agarwal family) falls into the sea. It takes a full 2 weeks of our time for his body to be found and for completing his ''shraddh''.

Then the police discovers that he was murdered. But by whom ?

Om, the eldest son, thinks he is the culprit. Despite all of Kamal's efforts, the great PARVATI decides to side with the truth and Om is jailed.

But that's not the end of the story. Somehow, people start thinking that someone else may be the culprit. The needle of suspicion swings like a pendulum from Om to Kamal to Shilpa to Gaurav and finally to the real culprit Avantika. Each time , the proofs seem conclusive, and in the next episode the person is found to be innocent.

The acting is generally good, especially Pallavi's. But Saakshi Tanwar, as Parvati, overacts most of the time. Parvati is supposed to be the ideal Indian woman, and so she takes on the role of advising everybody, and interferes in everybody's personal life.

The serial started as a family serial but has now turned to a murder mystery, just as Kahin Kissi Roz has turned from a murder mystery to a family drama. I don't really know what Ekta Kapoor wants to do with this serial. She does not really have any plans for this. The story is elastic. She creates one problem , takes a few months to solve it and then creates another.

The only positive thing about this program is that all the characters, (except only the head of the family) has married only once.
