Salaam lNamaste to all of you....
- I am writing after aaa long long time a review and it's so late in the night so the review may not be that good.
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna - a movie by Karan Johar...most awaited. I was actually dying to see the movie and after some reviews I knew it isnt the typical Karan movie and kinda different.
I wont say it's very different coz you can still feel the Karan touch but it's diff. from his previous works.
Well unfortunately I did not get the chance to watch this movie in cinma so I had to watch a ''watchable copy'' at home coz I could not wait for the Original Dvd.
Well let me talk first about the performances :
Shahrukh Khan - he truly did an awesome job. His role was damn irritating but that's what he did well and gave a flawless performance. I know know there are many people out there who hate King Khanand his performance as well but this does not change the fact that he is talented.
You know what people only need a little and dumb reason to start hating him because they can not find any good reason.
But this role deserves a nomination !
Rani Mukherjee - she is the Queen of many hearts & also my heart... to be honest her role was not that special but Rani has the talent to make a role extraordinaryand special although the role was normal.
She really did a great job !
Abhishek Bachan - he was amazing too. Woah you had to watch his expressions esp. the scene where Rani tells him to put off his pant...it was damn funny the way he reacted. He has come a long way as an actor and you can see great improvement because he handled funny moments as good as romantic and serious. And yes this role deserves a nomination as well.
But I want to add something ... Look do not get me wrong it looks good but damn the boy needs to shave.
I mean yeah it looks cool but sometimes it wasnt looking good but unclean and unshaven :- / !
Preity Zinta - the Diva of the fashion magazin. She had really some great scenes and did them very well...one of the finest works of Preity till date.
But still it kinda remined me of KHNH although her role was the opposite... I somehow feel she should change her style or something - I really do not know exactly !
Amitabh Bachan and Kirron Kher - I liked both and see what kinda role BigB is giving at this age :- ) and Kirron was good too like always.
Ahh how can we forget our lovely ''Special Appearences'' - Kajol and John Abraham ... Kajol was looking mind blowing and John also did well although the voice did not suit him that much.
Oky that's all for Performances now let's discuss the movie...
I don't wanna tell the whole story again because I am sure you guys must be bored because of those many reviews on KANK and to read the story again n again...so I will make it short.
At the beginning you see the releationship between Srk and Preity (who are married) and in the first scene you realize it's not the perfect couple but some who fight and dont come along well.
And then you see wedding ... wedding of Abhishek and Rani.
Rani is not so sure about her wedding and she meets Srk - the scene has been handled well - they talk a bit but in this very moment you can see there is something in the air :- ) !
Well Rani and Abhishek get married then you see a board with few yrs later or something like this.
Then Srk and Rani meet again...team up so that they can save their marriage which is almost broken by the way but what happens ? I know you have already guesses it .... they fall in love.
Preity and Abhishek are not aware of this and love them blindly whereas Srk and Rani find their happiness after a long time.
Well somehow the situation comes that Srk and Rani sleep together and then they decide to breka up and tell everything to their partners.
When Srk tells Preity that he slept with Rani she throws him out of the house and so does Abhi.
Srk and Rani talk to each other and lie that everything is fine etc. and start their new life.
After 3 years they meet again and get together ! :- )
I think Karan Johar has handled the characters very very well. He has shown the grey shades of each character and makes us realize that no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes.
So if something goes wrong not only one is at fault but everyone is.
Like when Srk and Preity break up - you can see both had done something wrong so you do not think Preity is the evil who throws Srk out or Srk is so mean and sleeps with someone else.
The story has been handled also good although you can fight abt the ending because many people did not like it but its the matter of point of view.
There are some strong scenes where you really watch with lots of interest and which have been treated well...
Where Abhi asks Rani why she does not wanna sleep with him...
The one where Preity gives Srk a slap...
The one where Srk and Preity fight and discuss about their broken marriage...
Really strong scenes....
On the whole - to be honest I expected more but I cant say it wasnt good because it was very good movie which is funny, romantic, serious, sad.... you should not watch it with family because there may be some scenes and jokes which arent good to watch with family.
