KANK is one of those movies, you either love, or you hate.Personally, I loved it.

It is the best film directed by Karan Johar, a man who was able to give the film the right tone and made it the classic that it is.An outstanding movie about true love. I am a true blue romantic and this movie really moved me emotionally.

The lead pair has put in a terrific performance, living the roles and making you forget its a film that you are watching. There is only one thing more pleasurable than seeing a movie starring SRK or Rani, and that is to witness the magic which occurs when these two super stars perform together. The chemistry between them is overwhelming in kank-

In terms of a story no doubt Karan Johar has written his most poignant tale to date and one that is sure to tug at the hearts. Although it is definetly draws inspiration from Hollywood hit 'Closer'-Karan ensues that this is no rehash job..His screenplay too is fantastic. It is evident that has spent a considerable amount of time writing the sequence of events as well as etching out some brilliant characters. There are many scenes which linger with the viewer after the movie is finished and there are some that deserve a re-watch even.

The first half doesn't have much in terms of a story as it goes about establishing the character and creates ambience for what is to follow. Still the proceedings in the first half are light and natural. The story picks up momentum in the second half and the sequences that follow one after the other are absolutely brilliant.

The way it paints the image of two very different marriages slowly falling apart without the participants really understanding what is happening is compelling, and the movie, while not exactly complex or deep, doesn't ever take the easy way out. Instead it relies completely on the talents of all the actors, to tell a realistic story of what can and does happen in real life.

Rani essays a complex role with utmost ease. SRK enacts a suave character with terrific understanding, proving yet again that he's amongst the best in the business today.Preity Zinta makes her presence felt .Amitabh goes over the top .Abhishek is quite good despite the miniscule role .

On the whole, KANK has a novel story with several poignant moments as its USP. . At the box-office, the impressive cast and the aggressive promotion have resulted in historic opening for the film. From BOXOFFICEINDIA.COM

The film is a certain hit and its second Monday will determine if it will be a superhit as the first week contains many holidays. All multiplexes look set to set new records for first week while at most single screens it may not beat the records of Krrish due to lack of entertainment for the stalls. Overseas it is certain to be the biggest grosser ever as UK sees total business of £275,000 for Thursday and Friday.
