It's a myth that Indian audiences have still not come of age and continue to be orthodox about certain issues. Karan Is to be admired for tackling such a sensitive issue, and does so in a humane and knowledgeable way.

And that's one of the vital reasons why the viewer doesn't really raise an eyebrow while watching the conlusion to this love story..

Dev Saran (Shah Rukh) is a footballer and his wife Rhea (Preity) is an upwardly mobile working woman. On the other hand is happy-go-lucky Rishi Talwar (Abhishek) married to a brooding Maya (Rani). Overseeing the youngsters are sassy Kirron Kher as Shah Rukh’s mom and Abhishek’s dad - casanova Sexy Sam (Bachchan Sr).How their path cross each other forms the crux of the story..

KANK is similar to the classic Silsila and Closer in the sense that it looks at the bonding between two individual who are married to someone else. But it charters a new path gradually. Karan, who has also penned the script, focuses on light moments in the first half or so, making you comfortable with the goings-on and situations, with the characters.Karan also handles various aspects of the story with flourish, doesn’t disturb the pace with too many songs, evenly distributes funny and tender moments, and also gives a serious twist to the tale in the second half without making things overtly melodramatic and soppy.

The very approach that creates the first union between Dev and Maya is not only very well penned but is also executed very brilliantly. Even the climax is first rate and conclusion to the story is rock solid.

Music is a mixed bag. 'Party' is the pick of the lot in terms of its tune as well as its execution. Cinamatographer has given this film an international look by capturing the essence of the story through the lens.. The background score deserves special mention for it enhances the impact of several sequences.

Rani has already proven to her critics on many an occasion, and does not let down again. She has truly become an accomplished actor and, if she continues to portray such roles as this, will soon be regarded as one of the very best.,Preity does well in a role that doesn’t demand much. After a gr8 performance in Swades, Srk disappoints this time around. This one is a relatively bland performance.Abhishek carries off his part with sincerity, not going overboard at all. A confident performance!

Amitabh is alright.Kiron Kher is strictly okay.

Must see.
