Every Karan Johar film is eagerly anticipated. He has tackled candy floss love stories in the past and the film-maker ventures into a different alley this time around. Directorially, he shows his competence in several sequences and there's no denying that as far as execution is concerned, this is Karan's finest works. A cohesive script and technical finesse have been merged beautifully and that makes KANK an experience to cherish.

The very beginning of the film the marriage of Rani Mukherjee and subsequently SRK meeting with an accident sets the mood right. Although the first half has a couple of interesting sequences, mainly the interval point, it is the second half that bowls you completely.

The twists and turns in the second half especially when Rani and SRK decide to spill the bills to their partner come as a bolt from the blue. Even the climax is simply brilliant. Karan deserves distinction marks for coming up with such an effective finale.

Not that there aren't any flaws in the second half. The main flaw is its length and the uneven pace, which picks up, drops and picks up again in the climax. However, the brilliant climax compensates on the drawbacks.

Karan's direction is an asset. Not only has he done full justice to the subject, the film also boasts of several poignant moments that remain etched in your memory even after the show has concluded. A majority of sequences in the second half are not only well penned, but well executed as well. The subject looks routine in the first half, but the manner in which the drama unfolds in the second half is an apt example of mature writing.

The cinematography and background music compliment each other. The camerawork is top class . SLE's music too is not a hindrance to the film. Each song comes at the right situation and is very likeable.

Every character in KANK has a well-defined role, which is why every performance stands out at the end of the day.srk is in form yet again. The actor seems to be taking giant strides with every film and this is among his finest performances. Abhishek lends the right shades to the character of Rishi. His eyes convey a lot. Preity is excellent. Rani is outstanding .Although her looks are inconsistent, she takes on the role with utmost sincerity and comes out with a natural performance. Amitabh is wasted.

, KANK has all it takes to emerge a winner. At a time when we crave for something different, kank stands out among mediocre fare being churned out by bollywood.
