KANK grabs your attention from the word 'Go'. The marriage at the very start, the husband-wife relationship, the meeting between SRK-Rani there's so much happening in the first half of the film.
The story has meat, the pacing is just right, the songs have been incorporated only when the situations demand, the lead performers act with utmost conviction… You're hooked!
But the sparks are missing in the post-interval portions. The narrative slows down considerably Also, the turn of events that lead to the climax aren't really captivating.
KJ impresses you with his shot execution. He also deserves kudos for handling a couple of dramatic sequences with aplomb. Besides, he has extracted first-rate performances from the principal cast. But he has yet to learn a lot more as far as the screenplay is concerned. His choice of the subject is praiseworthy, but the sequence of events and the way the drama unfolds on screen isn't persuasive enough.
Music is tuneful. The songs are in sync with the happenings and move the story forward. Cinematography is fantastic. Dialogues are quite good.
SRK does his part well, expressing the right expressions at the right places. Preity lights up the frame whenever she appears. Rani has a dream role and she doesn't disappoint. She emotes the vulnerability and innocence well .Amitabh is at ease both in emotional as well as light moments. Abhishek is just about okay.
Worth a watch.
