Finally,I got to see the most hyped movie of 2002.The hype has not done anything for the movie because, tickets are freely available on the fourth day of the release!!!But the movie on its own deserves a mention because after a long time we get to see something unusual.

There are movies and movies made on bank robberies gone sour and this is one of them.It takes its inspiration from the cult classic Reservoir Dogs which was a masterpiece of sorts. But for those who are not inclined to watch English movies with a violent content, this one will suffice.

So,here we have six guys, total strangers who meet in a cell and take a liking to each other and next thing we know is that they are planning a bank robbery. This one is intended to work on two fronts namely, one that it will end all their financial setbacks and two,it will be a slap on the face of the cops because these guys intend to rob the Police Bank,no less, where the cops keep their own hard earned money.

Of course, we have the difference of opinion between them about almost everything.Ajju(Sunjay Dutt),Marc(Suniel Shetty),Major(Amitabh Bachchan),Bali(Mahesh Manjrekar),Andy(Kumar Gaurav),and Mac(Lucky Ali)are always at loggerheads with each other on almost every other point.I do not remember any movie in recent times which has given equal footage to all the actors concerned. There is no awe of Bachchan's status, therby giving him more footage.

To come back to the story, the robbery is planned and executed.Once they come out, there is an ambush waiting for them. They fight it out and escape to come back and start introspecting that someone amidst them is an undercover cop.How they solve this dilemma is the crux of this movie. And mind you, it is not for the squeamish, how they go about doing this.

The first half is good, but the second half is even better. If you see this movie and compare it to the original, then you will not do it justice.See it for all the effort that has gone into making it and I am sure that you will appreciate it.The photography by Kurt Brabbee deserves special mention here. The movies is shot with the appropriate color tones in accordance to the mood of the movie.

The background score is zippy and good. The numbers, spoil the tempo of the movie, though. But Ishq Samundar and Rama Re stand out.And Mahive is pretty erotic.Where acting is concerned, everyone has given a consistent performance.Sanjay Gupta has done a good job here especially.Amitabh proves once again what an accomplished veteran he is and he really stands out.Mahesh Manjrekar deserves a mention here.He is too good as Bali, the guy with a one track mind and a druggie and he bites into his role with a relish not seen for a long time.I think, if at all I may see the movie s a second time, by any chance, it will be purely for his adrenaline charged performance. My personal opinion is that he should stop directing mediocre movies and instead concentrate on action.I am sure there can be roles written specially for him.Suniel Shetty gives a controlled performance.Sunjay Dutt is as usual, dependable.Lucky Ali is the surprise packet in the movie for more reasons than one.

Kumar Gaurav gives a nice performance too.It is a surprise why this guy is relegated to the boondocks. He should figure in more movies. The dialogues by Milap Zaveri deserve a mention here. The guy has been sensible enough to pepper the script with obscenities because we never expect decent people with good linguistic abilities to pull off a bank robbery. And all the best lines go to Mr.Manjrekar.They really make you chuckle gleefully at times.

All in all, this is a movie to be seen at least once for all the curiosity value that the publicity has generated. You will not be disappointed.See it then.At least it better than the trash served out to us in the name of meaningful celluloid by the so called masters.
