White Feather films(Pvt.)ltd.`s Kaante,produced by Pritish Nandy Communications and directed by Sanjay Gupta is one of the most awaited films of the year 2002.It has the star cast of Ambitabh Bachchan,Sanjay Dutt,Sunil Shetty,Mahesh Manjrekar,Lucky Ali,Kumar Gaurav,Malaika Arora-Khan,Isha Koppikar,Rati Agnihotri.The movie is the inspired from the Hollywood film ''Reservoir Dogs''.
The story is about six men and their mission.The mission of these six men is BANK ROBBERY.Major`s(Ambitabh Bachchan)wife is ill and Major needs money for her treatment and so he commits the last crime.Marc(Sunil Shetty)needs money to take his girlfriend,Lisa(Malaika Arora-Khan),the night club dancer to India and wants to live with her forever.Ajju(Sanjay Dutt)is the one who plans about this mission.Andy(Kumar Gaurav)needs money to get his child back from his wife,after divorce.Bali(Mahesh Manjrekar)and Mak(Lucky Ali)are in it to pay off thughs and strippers that they owe money.Bali loves his retarted sister and takes care of her.So,he is also in a bad and a sad situation.To solve their problems,the six of them decide to rob a bank in Los Angeles.Afterwards,everybody comes to know that one of them is an undercover cop who is betraying them.Who is he?
Kaante is a high budget movie.It is a stylish film which is rather different from the typical masala indian movies.While watching Kaante,one can`t believe that he is watching an indian movie.Sanjay Gupta`s direction is excellent.This is the finest work he has done,as yet.Technically,the film is very strong.Kurt Brabee`s cinematography is wonderful.No one has ever witnessed such brilliant cinematography in an Indian movie,as yet!Stunts by Spiro Rozatos,Simon Gunther and Bhiku Verma are first_rate!Gregor Narholz`s background score is superb.Milap Zaveri`s dialogues are nice but at some places they will shock the viewers but the dialogues match to the mood of the film.Anand Raj Anand`s music is very good!Dev Kohli`s lyrics are perfect.The film is made in a hollywood style!
And now the performances!Everyone has performed very well.All in all,it is a multi_starrer film!Ambitabh Bachchan has given an excellent performance.He is impressive!Specially in the scene where his wife dies.Sanjay Dutt looks cool.He acts naturally and his hairstyle/outfits are going to be loved by everyone.Sunil Shetty,after giving so many flops and poor performances,has given a wonderful performance in this flick.Mahesh Manjrekar as a debutant,in a comedy role is superb.After giving a mature performance in Sur,as a debutant,Lucky Ali is back with a mature performance,again.Kumar Gaurav has done a good job!Malaika Arora-Khan was amazing in her not-so-lenghty-role.She was effective and looked gorgeous.Isha Koppikar in the song ''Ishq Samundar''was sexy and mind_blowing.Rati Agnihotri has given a nice performance but because of the length of her role,she could not perform much but wherever she performed,she was very good.Gulshan Grover was average in not-so-impressive-role.
On the whole,Kaante is a film not to be missed.It`s a cinematic experience.People who love action and stylish Hollywood type of films would love this film.It is a must see!
