These are really testing times for our very own Bollywood. Always falling short of some brilliant ideas as is evident from the name that itself has been borrowed from its global godfather( or godmother ) Bollywood's success graph too has been an indication of this scarcity of ideas. A huge staggering loss of 200 crores is by no standards a mean achievement and our creative thinktanks has been able to achieve just this!

Turning to greener pastures seems to be the only solution out of this desert of ideas. Kaante though dubbed an 'off-the-beaten-track' film every hollywood aficionado is well aware of the fact that this so-called different film is just a plagiarised version of Reservoir Dogs. Please note that I have intentionally used 'plagiarised' instead of something very politically correct phrase like 'dubbed' or 'Indianised version' of the original; because this is what it is - Just a PLAGIARISED VERSION of the original. Because no attempt has been made to give it an Indian look to the film neither in the look nor in the attires nor in the story. The only thing that is Indian about this film are the actors.

Then why all this hype about this so-called 'revolution in Indian Cinema' ? Does it really credit so much attention. Well, if I were to answer this as a part of Indian Audience and not as a Global audience then I would definitely say 'YES'. This is definitely a revolution that it has moved away from the stereotypical mushy-mushy, cute boy-meets-girl love stories and single hero bashing any number of goons to pulp.

This is about the bare reality, about the stark reality, about the humiliation of ex-cons at the hands of the society. This movie is definitely a revelation that the Indian directors particularly the Bollywood directors are waking up to this reality of the failure of a single over-used formula films.

As a youngster im definitely impressed by the amount of pain the director has undergone to give that feel of authenticity to the film without losing the track. Inspite of the plagiarising it still is what it is, Indian at the core. And the real hero of the film. Its neither Amitabh nor Sanju Baba nor our hulk Suniel( note the 'e' ) but its the firebrand director donning the actor's grease for the first time MAHESH MANJREKAR. His stuttering dialogue delivery and the one-liners had us in splits. He just is a revealation. He has a long way to go. By telling MM rocks I wouldn't dare to belittle the brilliant performances by the other prodigous cast. Its just that he is the surprise of the package.

Well I wouldnt definitely like to reveal the storyline at all but all I can say is this film is something a hardcore Bollywood fan MUST watch not for the film itself but atleast for the hard work put in it. All in all a film directed at the people young at heart, not definitely for the families. Just take a day off and enjoy the time watching this movie. You may have your share of complaints against this time, but it remains what it really is - A Hollywood film MADE BY AN INDIAN FOR INDIANS.

Maybe you cannot appreciate the movie but you can definitely appreciate the attempt, it needed a LOT of courage.
