Psst - This section will contain some inside trivia about the film.

Quotes - Good one liners from the movie.

Oops - Goofs From the movie.

Director – Soham Shah

Screenplay – Soham Shah

National Geographic Sends Wildlife expert Krish Thapar (John Abraham) and Wildlife photographer Riya (Esha Deol) on a mission to investigate the unusual killing of tourists and expeditions by man eating tigers in the mysterious Orbit National Park in Uttaranchal. They meet up with a group of People who have been bought here on a detour. They are Dev (Vicek Oberoi), Ishika(Lara Dutta), Vishal(Vishal Malhotra) and Sajid(Kuishal Punjabi). The expeditions start going terribly wrong with the Killing of local tourist guide (Dayashanker Pandey) and then Sajid and takes a complete U turn when they encounter the mysterious Kali Pratap Singh (Ajay Devgan). Kali helps the group come out of the forest asking them to keep one thing in mind, observe the rules of the forest or you get killed. Anyone who has been an avid watcher of English movies will not find anything new in Kaal. Anyone who is not an avid watcher should ideally like this film as its genuinely different. Good Acting by anyone. Considering the wide scope of Good cinematography, its just about average. The Subject of Tigers should ideally be thrilling but its fall short of that. The only good point about this is someone has the guts to make a different movie and its got financial backing of Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan. Both of whom are known to make absolute rubbish films in the name of melodrama.

Psst –

1) In one scene you can see the PETA mug in John Abraham’s room. This is a reference as John Abraham is an active PETA member. He is a pure vegetarian and does not endorse any animal products. For those who came in late, PETA stands for People towards Ethical Treatments towards Animals. Even Esha Deol is a PETA member.

2) When Vivek Oberoi Says “It Kills” when offered a cigarette, it’s a reference towards his anti-cigarette campaign that is often shown in TV and cinema halls.

3) Kajol was supposed to be a part of the film but then decided to opt out.

4) Shahrukh Khan and Karan Johar co produced the movie.

5) Karan Johar was inspired by Aditya Chopra to produce a thriller. Aditya Chopra had earlier broken norms of making romantic/dramatic movies from Yash Raj films by producing Dhoom in 2004. Yash raj films are the official distributors of Kaal.

6) Karan Johar wanted this to be a songless film and had this idea since 2001. He was forced to include one song in the start and one song in the end as the film would have no buyers.

7) During filming in Thailand, One of the tame tigers escaped and hid behind the tall grass. The Entire crew were scared as a tiger who is let loose becomes extremely dangerous. The tiger was eventually found.

8) Just for the record, Kaal is sanskrit for Time.

Quotes –

1) “Yaha mere baap ne dhaba khol ke rakha hai?”

Oops –

1) There is no Orbit National Park anywhere in India. Most of the shooting took place in the jungles of Thailand and the Jim Corbett National Park in the state of Uttaranchal.

2) Its very very unlikely that a National Geographic Wildlife expert will go around smoking cigarettes in a forest, especially when he is keen on saving wildlife resources.

3) When a tiger kills his prey he will never eat the prey entirely. He will only eat a part of the prey. What is shown in the movie is a factual error that a tiger eats the entire deer leaving just the bones.

4) In one scene there is a PETA mug on the table where the laptop. And the next scene it is on the floor despite the fact that no one moved it.

5) Its surprising that a tiger safari in an Indian Forest did not have a single Elephant ride. Not only that, through out the movie there were no Elephants seen.

6) Its also very surprising that despite being in the forest for over 2 days, there women still had their make up intact and the Vivek Oberoi had a clean shave.
