One movie that come to mind after I heard the title slogan of this movie, "The mind sees all" was the Hollywood film Inception(2010) which although was not connected in any way, but yes had the similar concept about the power of the human mind. However, Kaabil(2017)is a world apart from Inception and is basically a unique love story which ends in a tragedy and the quest for revenge and justice.

Plot:-

The film is about a blind young man named Rohan Bhatnagar(Hrithik Roshan) who works as a voice over artist for a living. Eventually, Rohan gets to meet Supriya Sharma(Yami Gautam), a blind woman who is independent and works for a living. Through continuous interactions, they develop a liking for each other and eventually get married.

However, their joy turns out to be short lived. One night after dinner, the couple gets harassed by a goon named Amit Shelar(Rohit Roy), who turns out to be the younger brother of a politician named Madhavrao Shelar(Ronit Roy). He along with his friend Wasim(Sahidur Rehman) misbehave with them, which infuriates Rohan and end up in a fight.

The next morning, Amit and Wasim sneak into Rohan's house and gangrape Supriya. Upon knowing this, Rohan frantically calls the police and Inspector Chaubey(Narendra Jha) asks them to get Supriya medically examined to prove their claim. They are later kidnapped and held captive by Shelar's men for more than a day.Later, the police accuse them of being liars leaving them disheartened.

The next day as Rohan speaks to Supriya, he is shocked to find her corpse hanging from the ceiling since she committed suicide, unable to bear the humiliation. Rohan later finds out that Supriya was raped twice by Amit. This makes him determined to avenge Supriya's death and he uses his voice modulating skills in order to trap Amit and Wasim into revealing the truth .

The film unfolds into a saga of revenge and justice as Rohan's zeal to nab and bring the culprits to book while avenging his wife's death takes place, which results in the death of  Amit, Wasim and Madhavrao, making it appear as if the deaths were all linked to each other. Inspector, Chaubey, having no evidence against Rohan sets him free after a temporary house arrest and Rohan scatters Supriya's ashes into the sea, having his revenge complete.

Direction/Performances/Others:-

Sanjay Gupta is an ace director in Bollywood having directed/produced films such as Kaante, Musafir, Zinda, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Dus Kahaniyaan, Shootout at Wadala and Jazbaa, just to name a few. His stories often portray a dark reality and are a less of fantasy. Although, the theme of this movie has been experimented throughout the film industry several times, the way it has been portrayed by him is quite unique.

Coming to the performances, Hrithik Roshan played a physically disabled person the second time after Guzaarish(2010). Just as the character was expected, he went totally deglam and portrayed a kind of innocence, which would remind you of his debut Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai(2000) or the films that followed in the years later. Not just the character, but his look as an ordinary blind person falling in love, going through the loss of his wife and his determination of avenging his wife's death, despite his disability is all the more laudible. It was even more evident in the action or fight scenes.

Yami Gautam too portrayed an innocent young blind but ambitious woman very well. Even the scenes following her rape and her suicide were portrayed realistically and her chemistry with Hrithik was striking enough.

Narendra Jha as Inspector Chaubey too fitted the role well positively. His appearance in the trailer of the movie looked as if he played a corrupt cop, but surprisingly his role was positive.

The other performance which garnered eyeballs was of Ronit Roy playing the corrupt politician Madhavrao Shelar. Ronit mentioned in an interview that he had to meet several Maharashtrian people and rehearse his role multiple times before getting into the skin of the character, which was played quite well.

Rohit Roy too played a negative role, the last notable being a gangster in Shootout at Lokhandwala(2007), here too the character played with ease.

Other performances were that of Suresh Menon, Sahidur Rehman, Akhilendra Mishra, Girish Kulkarni and Urvashi Rautela in the item song.

The film was received well at the Box office with critics giving an average of 3/5 reviews for the movie. It released on 25th January 2017 in 2700 screens worldwide, with a total collection of Rs 176 crores.

Music;-

Kaabil's soundtrack was quite catchy and popular with one of the hits'Mon-Amour' starring Hrithik and Yami appearing in the movie's trailer. Haseeno Ka Deewana starring Urvashi Rautela was a superhit dance number which gained popularity much before the film's release. Other good tracks include'Main tere Kaabil', 'Kuch Din' and'Kisi se pyaar ho jaaye'. The music was composed by Rajesh Roshan. Vishal Dadlani, Jubin Nautiyal, Payal Dev, Palak Muchhal and Raftaar lent their voices for the movie.
