I travelled in KPN bus on 21/12/2013 from Bangalore to Trichy(as there is no direct stop point to Namakkal). I booked the ticket in Madiwala office and I informed them that I had a TV to get to Namakkal as a luggage. They told that I have to check in Bommanahalli office as the bus arrive there only. In ticket, the boarding time was mentioned as 1:15 PM. So I reached the office at 1 PM and informed the office staff that I had a TV to take in bus. So I asked them to give the luggage ticket. But they told that I have to check with the bus driver only. So I waited in office till the bus arrive. The bus came to Bommanahalli office at 2:30 PM(1:15 hrs late).
While getting into the bus, the driver told me that they will charge for TV. I too agreed and asked him the fare. He asked me 1000 rupees. I was really shocked and replied him why he was asking this much amount. He told that for getting TV into the bus, they will generally charge money like this.I told him that I dont have that much money and requested him to reduce. Then he convinced me that we will negotiate later and told me to get into the bus. The bus started and after few minutes he came to me and again bargained and I agreed for 700 rupees(as he told that he will give bill for that amount). He kept the TV at the extreme last in the space where the driver is sleeping and hide the TV where no one knows.
The bus crossed Salem and he ask me the amount. First I gave 600 and told him to manage with that amount as I have totally 700 only and I need the remaining 100 for travelling to my native from Namakkal. He suddenly starts shouting vigorously. One of the passenger questioned him why he ask this much of amount from him. For that he used abusing words. Finally I gave 700 to him and ask the luggage ticket. He told that they will bill at Bangalore only.
I came back to Bangalore on 24/12/2013 morning and went to Bommanahalli office and ask the ticket. They told that they dont give anything like that and gave me head office number to contact. I called them and informed all details elaborately. They replied that they will check and let me know later. But I didn't get any response on that day. Next day I again called them. Now another person picked up the call and I explained him again all the details. He too didn't respond back on that day. Like this it happens till 31/12/2013.
Again I called them on 1/1/2014 and ask him what steps they taken till yesterday to resolve the problem and I asked them atleast give the bill. They simply told that hereafte they wont give any bill and wont refund the money also. He added that he will give the driver contact number and I have to ask them directly. I called the driver and he respond back with some non sense words.(I dont want to mention here).
As I dont have any material proof, I feel helpless to proceed further.
I desperately hope for a kind of regulatory agencies to control the abusement by these private travel agencies and to hear the grievances of the victms/passengers.
