Well if this movie has inspired me to write after 4 years of stagnant profile on mouthshut.com it must have something in it.
Gripping plot, with an even better twist in he climax grabs all the good reviews for this movie. About journalism, politics, terrorism and corruption-very sensitive topic. Each of these professions been given due respect and dealt with at the same time. Power in each of their hands is a dangerous affair and how they wish to use it is the message that is very beautifully weaved in the movie.
I do not wish to disclose the story in my review but I could call it an essential message for the present youth, explained in many possible ways. Storyline and dialogues, sequence of actions all well placed except the song sequences. Camera on matrix shots, close ups, colors- all a pleasure to the eye. Settings- the 'Dhina Anjal' office was an eye-catching and jovial place and enlightens us on the life of a journalist though the obviously visible fake settings in the duet songs make me wonder about maintaining quality.
Coming to the characterization. Hero Jeeva has made a comeback with this movie, exploring all sides- comedy action romance (typical tam heros) he has done his best. Well taught camera-handling techniques..perfection in gestures calls for a totally dedicated actor within him. The girls- honestly I do not wish to comment on kartika (facepalm)..was a huge disappointment in every way..looks and acting. Even if she did look good from an angle by mistake, the acting spoils it and vice-versa. Family history dint seem to work. Piaa has done an outstanding job, wonderful characterisation s a chirpy girl and well implemented, though I wished the other was killed instead of her. The other 'hero/villian' im not sure if its a debut, felt a more powerful face could have taken his role but good job nonetheless. Nandu made an attempt with comedy again-some worked some dint.
Harris Jayaraj has been disappointing. The club mix was really a wannabe attempt- empty both on lyrics and music. Enamo Edho- thanks to the publicity, still stays in our minds- i'd call the best of the album. Gala gala was again lame on lyrics but decent. Venpaniye HJ tried to work his 'suttum vizhi' magic again but dint stay for long in my mind. Netri Pottil- Naresh Iyer does his magic again (yes I am biassed towards his voice :) ) good number, worked for the movie.
On the whole good product with minor glitches. I'd give this movie a 4 star rating on 5.
