Rumour is that they are now simply called KFC not because they wanted to add a little spice to their name and not to make it sound like a trendy fast food restaurant but because of a live chicken head that was served in a chicken burger, a live head!
First of all, the chicken burger had to be round. I do believe this story is actually true but was placed purposely into the burger as a practical joke. Either way, it is only a rumour and I have yet to see a credible source that proves otherwise.
The Food
Well you know it, the food is fried chicken. I'm not sure of the fatty content nor if the chicken is real chicken, but when you eat, you know you are going to get fat. A bucket of chicken is simply too much for the average person, so they have combos of 2 pieces and fries, 3 pieces and fries and other small combos such as the Chicken Burger.
There is no burger meat here at KFC, so you want find any there. The typical family will order a bucket of chicken which will basically suffice for them.
The Price
The only reason I do not go to Kentucky Fried Chicken is because of their prices. They are simply outrageous! I only eat at fast food restaurants when I go to work or after a long night of partying. Yet, when I am so hungry, I expect to be fed nicely for about $5.
But no! You have to spend at least $7 on an average combo to be filled. Below $7 is the only other combo at $4.50 that fails to fill you up. I either end up going to Burger King for another 2 whoppers if I'm not filled. Prices are a major factor in picking the right fast food restaurant for the out of house eater.
The Restaurant in General
Satisfactory to Fair. It is nothing special at each location and they are not dirty, yet they are not as clean as I expect them to be.
Most of the locations I go to are take-out and that's really not good to keep customers. I want a place to sit if you're going to charge me $7!
Why are the prices so high if overhead costs are going to be lower for the location!
The Staff
This is funny. In all my life I have never went to a KFC where everyone spoke perfect english. There are always Indian or Oriental people who can barely speak a word. The only word they know is Chicken probably. I sometimes find it hard to order as they have to ask me to repeat it a number of times. Talk about fast food?
The staff is although nice, so that is a positive side and that is the only area where they receive some points for me to make a return visit.
Overall, is KFC for you?
This is all going to depend on how much you value the worth of a fast food product. If you are looking to come here and spend $5 and expect to be filled ..... forget it! If you want to put down the $25 for the 20 piece bucket of chicken ... you are somewhat getting your moneys worth. Most places are take-out. I think I'll skip the Chicken Scene and stick to the meat scene.
