“If only sex sells …. Then X-rated mov. Review on Julie

?If only sex sells ?. Then X-rated movies would have been biggest hits?

The trend of portrayal of ?BOLD? and liberated Indian women started after success of JISM (Bips and John fame) and then a flurry of flicks showing underdressed and vulgar looking leading females came. Each being worse then the previous ones like Mallika Sherawat in her famous 17 smooches film and Murder and then that HAWAS heroine. Each showing the pathetic condition of Indian movies and it can be well comprehended in statement of Neha herself that ?Only Sex and Shahrukh sell?. So beware????

Well regarding the movie, it revolves around the story of a young and pretty girl from Goa and why she makes a choice to become a prostitute and then what happens to her in the end.(This could be very interesting to most of us).

Julie (Neha Dhupia): well, she has proved that she is the boldest of all the Bips and Mallikas of bollywood with her bare, bare and bare act. She had tried to act but could not as she can only expose. (I read some where that this may be an Oscar level performance, think!!!). She is supposed to be an innocent girl who falls in love twice and gets physical with boyfriends both the times though she had been betrayed by her first boyfriend the next day after she got physical with him. And when her second boyfriend tries to use her as a means of getting business deals?.. She says enough is enough and after a long speech and interaction with a lady pimp (the same fat lady from ?AASTHA? fame ?she acts as a good pimp?) she decides to take prostitution as her profession and proudly goes about announcing that SHE IS A PROTITUTE BY PROFESSION.

And then again she falls in love with a business tycoon from one of the biggest business family?.no no he is not her one of the clients. He is very innocent and MAHAN and does not even know that she is a prostitute. So just guess what Julie will do now?.. Well she will go to a very popular talk show ?REALITY SHOW? where she will confess about her being prostitute and about her being in love with the most eligible bachelor.

And then this most eligible bachelor announces on the same show that he is in love with Julie and proposes to her which is accepted gratefully. It is here when Mihir says that Indian society wants prostitutes in the market, but not in home and the fact that several houses are prevented from breaking because of social services offered by these prostitutes. He decides to marry Julie because besides being in love with her he is also a responsible citizen. So a happy ending for Julie. (pssst?. What a movie..)

Mihir Shandilya (Priyanshu Chatterjee) : The most eligible bachelor, business tycoon and equally bold person who decides to marry just for love and is not even affected by the fact that his love is a prostitute is heartening to see but really very unreal. He has acted well in whatever small role and time directors could give beyond skin show.

Neel (Yash Tonk): well he is the first boyfriend of the innocent goan girl who flees her the day after they get physical and marries a girl from business family to make a career out of marriage.

Rohan (Sanjay Kapoor): An architect by profession and Julie?s second boyfriend. He is the one who tries to be a pimp of her would be wife to get business deals and contracts by sending her to sleep with her bosses. He is the real one who makes Julie ?search for her identity?. Well the onscreen chemistry between the two is good and there is a lot of skin show.

Music of Himesh Reshammiya is good especially tracks ?Hum Tum Pe? and ?Dil Laga Baithe? and Ishq tejab hai rabba are well composed.

Final word: The reasons cited by Julie to plunge into prostitution are not persuasive enough. Though the story line could have been good if some slings would have been tightened but the direction is pathetic. It could have been better if director would have focused more on storyline then on the skin show. There is no comparison of this movie with other movies on prostitution like recently made Chameli (Kareena?s) quality wise which have got much better treatment.

So watch it for mis direction, weak storyline, some poor performances and few of the boldest and hottest bare and dare acts.
