This is a largely unknown movie with probably just one recognisable face( Zahn) . Possibly inspired by Spielberg's movie for TV, Duel, the story is about two brothers on the road playing a practical joke on a psychopathic truck driver and finishing on the receiving end.
With an interesting plot in hand, Dahl weaves an engaging thriller for us. During the movie, one can't escape fearing the possible consequences of mindless pranks.
The movie is not completely a terrible ride for the lead characters, since Zahn's character is humourous. Zahn( That Thing You Do!) seems to have a natural penchant for the lighter side and comes out well. The rest of the cast do justice to their roles. The technical aspects of the movie too are just fine.
The movie has quite a few surprises, shunning cliches, but gives a sense of incompleteness in the end( Joy Ride 2?). Overall, it is certainly worth a watch; but you could wait for it to appear on TV unless you want to experience the thrills in a movie hall.
