Ashutosh has done a good job on the cinematography throughout the movie, the last fight sequence is almost enjoyable. The photography, the sets, the costumes and the overall canvas painted is gripping in its grandeur

Music -The sound track is catchy and pleasant, especially the sufi song “khwaja mere khwaja” which happens at the wedding of Akbar and Jodha, it has a spiritual touch to it. The other tracks are also enjoyable.

Lead Actors - The idea of giving Aishwarya Rai minimum dialogues is the best of Ashutosh!:)

She looks great in the Rajput princess avatar. But the role has been stretched far - I mean a princess who is an expert in sword fighting, who places two conditions before the Emperor of India prior to marrying him, and cooks better than the palace bawarchis is just a little too much to digest.

Ashutosh has tried hard to please the ladies by adding the sword practice scene with Hrithik Roshan half naked, however the attitude of an emperor is what he missed working hard on. The very bad tahlaffus(pronunciation) of Urdu adds to the irritation of watching Hrithic Roshan slaughter the character of Akbar the great.

Technical errors - However, what really makes the movie enjoyable are scenes like the final battlefield scene when you can see the emperor on a horse(!) just behind the foot soldiers without armor(even the foot soldiers are shown in armor here!), costumes with jewellery being repeated numerous times, Akbar dismissing the diwane aam because he hears Jodhaa singing(how cud she sing so loudly without the invention of microphones is what I am wondering) ….

Overall plot -The plots lack the connection with each other and hence it feels like reading a history book with pages torn so you don’t know what happened in between.

Whereever did the stuff we learnt in history books - Din e elahi, Tansen, Birbal etc go?
