This is for all those students who have the mind and the knack to fight for their rights…..yea I’m talking about the profession law. All those students who want to take up Law after their 12th Std…the five-year Law course is a very good option wherein you will be getting a Bachelors degree in Legal Science and will thereafter complete your LL.B in two years thereby saving a year.

It was during my 8th std that I decided I wanted to be a lawyer in future. So after my 12th when I read in the Times about the five-year course I immediately went to Govt. Law College to enquire about the same.

The BLS LLB program is a 10-semester full time course. The first 2 years (4 semesters) constitute a 'pre-law' course where the student is taught social-science subjects like - Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History, Logic, English, Legal Language, History of Courts, etc. In the next three years the actual law subjects are dealt with - like torts, Contracts, Family law, Labor laws, Constitutional law, Property law, Law of Crimes, International law, Interpretation of statutes, Alternate dispute resolution and so on. In their 8th and 10th semester, the students have the option of choosing some particular subjects along with some compulsory subjects. A total of 4 practical training papers are compulsory for all the students. The BLS degree is awarded to the students after successful completion of the 3rd year and the LLB degree is awarded after completion of 5 years.

The BLS degree is a great boon to the students, as the student is declared a graduate after 3 years and becomes free to pursue other PG courses side-by side and also becomes eligible to apply for jobs or give various entrance exams.

I would recommend either Govt Law College or SVKM College of law for the five-year course. The best is the Govt Law College but the only drawback is 50% seats are reserved for Sc’s.

Im currently doing my course from the latter one and trust me though I thought I made a wrong decision by joining Mithibai(Arts section wherein the benches were covered with pigeon droppings and pigeons flying in the classrooms and all the students howling…yikes…) once again…I was proved wrong..The classrooms are on the fourth floor with excellent benches and spacious airy classrooms with an excellent view of the Pawan Hans…the faculty is excellent and very sweet …there to help you in whatever you need …and how can I not mention the Vice Principal Mr.Dwivedi …who encourages his students to participate in all the possible fests so as to create a name for the college…(this college has just begun 2 years back I mean we were the second batch). Trust me guys within a year or two I’m sure SVKM will prove itself to be one of the best…

A lot of scope guys. …Moot courts…debates….presentations…sports et al…so go for it…SVKM ROCKS!
