AYYO AYYO ! . Review on Ji - Tamil Movie

I took my MOM (after a long time) to watch a movie and she slept through JI!

I wonder what happened to Lingusamy ? I heard he called a press conference to ''explain'' and ''defend'' JI ! As any adman will tell you, you cannot sell a lousy product. JI has almost NOTHING going for it.

I wonder why these Heroes are out to reform society. Is it their Job ? This is not the ''Angry Frustrated Young Man'' Decade. People want entertainment - Nice songs, a few Jokes, some fights and of course Romance. The songs were very ordinary, comedy track was almost non-existent and Trisha appeared only when a song was in sight.

The fights were ok. A lot of effort has gone into the fights. Thats just about the only positive thing ( Though I personally dont enjoy fights )

Ajit has lost it from the time he concentrated on racing (when he was at his peak with Vaalee). He has lost his edge but gained in weight ! I wonder how he managed in racing with his bulk. I was a BIG Ajit Fan from the Aasai days and I considered him very ''bankable'' as he had a pleasing face and was impressive as both a ''Chocolate Boy'' Hero as well as an ''Action'' Hero.

He clearly had a flair for comedy and I loved the way he mouthed the lyrics so clearly in all his songs. He has gone on record saying he wished to be the Numero Uno. He must realize that his bulk is really beginning to show especially in the dances and the action scenes. He should learn from Kamal the art of losing weight almost at will ! He is a ''Lambe Race Ke Ghoda'' i.e a Horse that will last several races ( a survivor) but he has to improve his physique as well as his choice of roles. Attagasam also had a very ordinary run and now JI. The next one could be the last nail in the coffin unless he is careful.

I think Trisha is quite happy with these song-and-dance routines where she hardly appears on screen and mouths very few lines. We saw it with Gilly, Tirupachi & this one too. To her credit, she has started displaying a few emotions. She had a really ''plastic'' face when she started off especially in Mounam Pesiyathe, Manasellam & Leysa Leysa. Her dancing has also improved ( So has her figure ! ) But she appears to lack the ambition to rise above her limitations - the way Simran did.

The talents of Manivannan and Vijay Kumar are not utilized properly. Venkat Prabhu as the Hero's friend shows that he has some acting talent and can do well if properly exploited. The guy who plays the villain is very ordinary. I did not even bother to note his name. Even if he had screamed '' I'm a bad man'' a la Gulshan Grover, he would not have been convincing !

I will be watching THE AVIATOR tomorrow and I hope I enjoy that one at least ! I wanted to write a detailed review but a poor movie is hardly inspiring. Sorry folks if you expected more ! I just could not bring myself around to penning a few lines about the plot. On second thoughts, I wonder if there was one ???!!!

P.S : Yes - My Mom had a nice time as she managed to catch up on missed sleep !
