Learn "How a film should not be made" from JBJ!!

Untill a few years ago(maybe 8 - 10yrs), a Yash Raj banner movie release was not so frequent and almost an yearly event(sometimes gap between two movie releases was more than 1 year). The reputed production house used to concentrate on all the aspects of filmmaking.Every department seemed to give top notch quality of work.Since the time I remember, Yash Raj movies was associated with a strong storyline, great screenplay, good performances, melodious music  - all in all quality cinema.Who can forget - Waqt, Daag, Deewar, Silsila, Mashal, Chandni, Lamhe, Darr, DDLJ, Dil to Pagal hai(personally I dint like DTPH).

I dont say they dint churn out duds then. There were blunders then too(Parampara, Vijay). But still the good ones made up for the duds.

All was ok untill 2002.Then, YRF thought Chalo lets give competition to RGV's factory! They churned  2 -3 movies every year(barring 2003).But , by now, even hits like **"Bunty aur Babli", "Veer Zaara" etc etc were not exactly "Quality Cinema"

Since then quality has suffered big time.Their movies have not been what they used to be.And according to me it hit an all time low with Neal'N' Nikki in 2005 and now with Jhoom Barabar Jhoom the verdict is loud and clear for YRF - Quality storyline and high entertainment value matters.Audience cant digest below par products just because of YRF!

Coming to JBJ.

Plot(if we can call it one)

Rikki Thukral(Abhishek Bachchan) is guy from Punjab(Bhatinda) settled in London. He does multiple things for living(DVD piracy, Real estate and more.).

Rikki meets Alvira Khan(Preity),she is a Pakistani,  on London station. It seem, both of them have come to pick up their respective fiances Anaida(Lara) and Steve(Bobby) who r are arriving by the same train. And the train is late.

Initially thers little "nok-jhonk" between them, as Alvira thinks Rikki is flirting. But then, they get little eased up wid each other, since both are engaged. Both start telling each other, their "Love Story".How Rikki met Anaida at The Ritz hotel, Paris, where Anaida is a manager. .Alvira describes, how she met Steve at the London Wax Museum.Superman's wax  model crashed and would have fallen on Alvira, but Steve saved her.Steve is a lawyer by profession.

Rikki and Alvira go around for a while and spend some 2 hours with each other.

By the end of a good 2 hours with each other, they realise they r in Love. But the problem is they are engaged(or atleast that's what Rikki and Alvira have told each other:))

The second half is a little better.Rikki and Alvira decide to meet, of course, in presence of their fiances. They meet at a dance competition "Jharoka".And the progress of the movie, reveals some truths and somehow reaches the conclusion.

Maybe, the story looks interesting, when you just hear it.But, it will make you bored and restless, while watching .

*Performances:-

Everyone is strictly OK.Abhishek does a little better job, that too, because he has the meatiest role.Preity does an average job.But in some scenes she lookes jaded and tired.Lara looks glamorous, hot and sexy.thats it.Bobby is ok in the first half, but looks completely bewildered in second half. The guy playing Abhishek's friend is good though.

Amitabh looks wasted. His outfit is ridiculous.

Direction

Shaad Ali is not a great director and JBJ proves that Saathiya and B'n B were flash in the pans.

Music

The only strength of this enterprise. The songs looked forced in the story, but you wont mind them .

Technically

The cinematography is good.Europe is shot well.

Choreography is fine. Background score is just so -so.

YRF, please wake up.Audience doesnt need a glossy, glamorous, beautiful movie minus soul.

At the end, what matters is the story.

*My Conclusion

This one is neither for classes nor masses. It wont completely entertain, any section of the audience.

*Recommend to stay away from JBJ.
