I am sure you would agree with me that all airlines are booking more number of passengers than the capacity and waiting for some silly reason to reject a genuine passenger. I had good impression about Jet Airways in the past, but as the service faded, I moved to low cost airlines and was equally comfortable.
Recently I was carried away with the Jet Privilege card and started preferring Jet Airways, accumulating points, changing tiers, waiting to move to next tier. Now I know how we become gunnie pigs in the process in the name of Loyalty points which hardly has any value when you need it. I had an worst experience with Jet Airways today (20 May 2010) at Delhi Airport where in I did webcheck in with PNR KZTBAC, I was excited with the convenience. The flight was scheduled at 6.35. am. I was accompanied with my aunt with other PNR KZMDOS.
I reported at Airport Checkin counter at 5.55 am got the stamping done and got security clearance done was watching screen for the flight 9W 2257, boarding was not mentioned, announcements were being made for 9W 2251, I was carefully watching during security check. When I reached the boarding gate at 6.20 no one was there, further at 6.25 I met a Supervisor Lady Diana who said the boarding is closed. That is boarding was closed atleast 15 - 20 minutes before time. Flight is full.
I was surprised how a checked in passenger was left who was accompanied with senior citizen, that too before time. When enquired the flight took off quite late. Also the Flight was full. I was told that a Jetlite flight at 9.20 was there and I would be accommodated. I was surprised that the flight was over booked. Atleast 4 - 5 additional passengers were booked than the capacity. I was denied boarding mentioning that flight was overbooked. I came across atleast 4 members who had ticket and were denied boarding with the pretext of late arrival by 1 minute, that gentle men was in que for more than 5 minutes. His PNR No was DZUQR.
The flight was full, even after denying 4 passengers with valid ticket. I went to the security desk where details of the passengers who cleared security check but missed their flight are noted when they are returning as security measure. It is increasing day by day. Inspite of that flights are full. This shows that Jet Airways is overbooking passengers and denying the right to travel for a genuine passenger with a silly pretext.
This is shame on part of reputed airline like Jet Airways.
I took a decision to surrender my Jet Privilege card No 9W 123813745 to Jet Airways so that I would avoid preferring the Airline for silly reasons. To my surprise when reviewed thousands of points were lapsed and my tiers were degraded in the past which I never bothered, but for earning points we get carried away with the attractive mails from Jet Airways.
I suggest all friends should give least importance to the Privilege Cards which are distractors. DGCA should take a serious note of the same. I hope Mouthshut.com would be helpful in reaching this experience to DGCA which repeatedly issues circulars to Airlines not to book more number of passengers than the capacity. The best evidence is the security register.
