I've just got back from a visit to India and flew jet airways' London-Delhi-London route. I was supposed to fly British airways but because of a mix-up, found myself with a jet airways ticket. I was cynical, wary! An Indian carrier? The cabin's probably being held together with electrical tape and I may or may not get my dinner depending on how the stewardess is feeling. Boy was I wrong! ...
WOW! That's all I can say. From the moment when a very smartly dressed courteous young lady at the check in counter said Good morning sir, welcome to your jet airways flight, something began to seem very amiss! Fast efficient checking-in with a smile, my fragile hold item being personally looked after, a warm greeting as I boarded the plane. And wait, the plane! Brand new just off the airbus production line, and maintained to the highest standards, it was just a dream! The most amazing feature was the personal entertainment system - upto 30 movies on demand on a personal dvd style player, music videos, chart music albums on demand, games using the seat remote, I mean welcome to the 21st century!
The inflight service was just wonderful. Jet have received an ISO 9001 quality certification for their service, and was that apparent or what. Very friendly staff (most young and very smart), I kept being asked if everything was okay, would I like anything at all? The food was sumptuous and plentiful, I even got some seconds! (is that possible?). The toilets were a modern marvel with designer lighting and I was glad to see the return of eau de toilette bottles and even mini shaving cream and mouthwash bottles!
Towards the end of the flight we were handed a rather long service suggestion form. With over 4 pages of multiple choice questions I began to think, hmmm someone's taking this airline's running seriously! Two and a half films and a gluttonous feast later I found myself leaving the aircraft feeling rather sad that it was all over. Next time, I thought. I wouldn't be flying by any other airline anyway.
