The popular hip-hop rap trio DC Talk really took their music to a different level with this record-creating album! everybody was screaming out Jesus Freak and every T-shirt/e-mail i.d./billboard wanted to display this phrase after the '2honks and a negro' released this grammy winning album.
The album actually deviates from the rap scenario and explores rock/alternative to which is added a touch of the familiar rapping that shot DC Talk to fame.
The album blazes off with the hard hitting 'So Help me God'. This kinda sets up the pace for the whole album.
Coloured People is a simple reminder that skin color is a thing of beauty! A light number with a short rap bridge, this song is what the world today needs!!
And then... in comes the title track 'Jesus Freak'. This song is quite heavy on guitars and hard-rapping!! It leaves you wanting more. I don't really care if they label me a jesus freak!!. Reflects my attitude to people scoffing at what I believe in.
This is quickly followed by the quiet 'What if I stumble'which has deep meaning. A frank song that says that God is still there even if u stumble. Reassuring!!
The rest of salathe Album does not disappoing and includes one of my all-time favorites 'In the Light'- a catchy singable song. This song is punctuated by superb acoustic guitars and great melody. It's one of my favorites and great to jam with friends!!
'What have we become'again explores how today's world is degenerating. What have we become...in a world degenerating?. Try answering that one!!
To sum it up. This album is still one of my favorites. The cassette is available from Sitara and OM. The CD may still be there in some stores. Get it!!
