I have decided to write this review on Jehangir Hospital, Pune after the trouble we underwent for angiography/angioplasty for my father. My intentions are to help people with the information to take a better decision.
My father was recommended to undergo angioplasty after the chest pains and recent hospitalization at local clinic in Mumbai for breathlessness.
I decided to go for Jehangir as it was known to be a good hospital and appearing on list of cashless benefit from Insurance Company and also I was based in Pune.
The initial exposure was fine Mr.Vinayak from admin helping me with the insurance procedure before admitting for angioplasty.
The test went fine and was over by 11.00 am. I also got the semi private room available at 2.0 pm, however my father was shifted at 6.15pm after numerous follow ups. Till this time has in recovery area of Cathlab.
The reason given to me was on that day they had high number of patients. The administration activities were pathetic and for every little thing one has to personally follow-up. There is no synch among the departments.
Problems:
>Delay in shifting to room even after allocating the room.
>Delay in 2D echo scanning because of the shifting and the screening was done on next day morning.
>Diabetes pill was given to my father even after doctor has said that on day of procedure this was not to be given.
>Insufficient number of ward boys to handle their so called increased number of patients.
> No one took any interest to take my feedback on the services even after reminding and I was told that I will get feedback form in the discharge file which never appeared.
The only conclusion that I can draw was the administration at Jehangir is pathetic and there is no control and synch among various activities.
However while criticizing on the above I should also make a positive note on doctors side. Dr. Ajit Mehta is highly dedicated and committed doctor. He answered all the queries in most humble manner without ever losing his temper. I think the admin people should learn from this doctor and improve on their working.
