Deitel Books are awesome, I have read some of their books in the past. This book is not different. In every chapter there are lots of examples and all the concepts are discussed indepth. Another thing great about this book is that, whenever you're seeing a code, it's a complete code, no where in the book you'll find incomplete code. Whether you're just learning a small concept or creating a complete program, everywhere you'll find the complete code.
The exercises in the book are amazing. Following the exercises only one can create a lot of real world projects. The exercises are divided into some parts - easy, intermediate and advanced. The advanced projects will take a few days or a week to complete, where as the easy projects can be completed within an hour.
The first chapter of the book gives overview of basics of computer programming, computer science, the fields in computer science and their applications. If anyone has never came across computer programming and this is their first time, they will be benefited a lot too. The first chapter has an extensive coverage of various applications of programming, starting from artificial intelligence to game development. So, beginners can get really interested in learning Java.
This is probably the only book which shows how to implement the most popular data structures using java in a java text book. Overall amazing book to learn java.
